There's much talk in DtA about the proposed "wine bar"; but I'm sure it was a "cocktail bar" at the start of the story (or am I confusing it with the Leon saga?); and weren't cocktails mentioned tonight (Mon. 4/1)? Does anyone know the truth?
'Cos I think the British don't really do cocktails, as a lifestyle/venue thing, other than cheap mixed drinks for the Ibiza-Uncovered lads and ladettes to get hammered on. Hardly the clientele either K or J are aiming at, surely?
And either way, wine or cocktails, why is self-important whisky-connoisseur Jim in the least interested?

What about a Cocktail Sausage bar? The best (or perhaps, worst) of both worlds.

Or better still, a German themed Cocktail Sausage bar. The wurst of both worlds...

They certainly drink cocktails in London. Most of the bars where I live now serve them and they are increasingly seen on restaurant menus.

I thought it was going to be a "café bar."

Morty, my younger colleagues (in their thirties) certainly do cocktails, and several of the more pleasant meeting points in these (very provincial) parts are cocktail focused. They're the kind of place you can go after a meeting and are generally much less rowdy than the pubs. You can also feel quite happy sitting there for a while on your own with a book, if you arrive early. For those nervous of cocktails, they also do coffee/herbal teas, wine and some light food.
I've learned a lot!
