Hi,
Assuming there is no such thing as a stupid question...
I've started to listen to the podcast about a year ago, but I'd like to hear the episodes from the very beginning -- i.e. work my way from the 1950s up (yes, I know, but I read all of the Angela Thirkell books, too.
So where would I get hold of the complete old episodes? I don't necessarily need a boxed set (although that would be nice), downloading them via itunes or similar would work as well.
Thanks in advance for any hints,
Susan in Berlin
As far as I'm aware, you can't.
Thinking about it further it would the most enormous job to digitise all those episodes and I think they might have to obtain permission from every actor or their estate if they were no longer alive.

This question has been asked before, and there is no provision of episodes more than a week old from the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú (other than the few on 'Vintage Archers' and 'Ambridge Chronicles' cassettes and CDs; not sure that these feature complete episodes, though). The only way would be to get hold of them from other fans, and I haven't seen anyone on this board say that they have many old episodes on tape. You could try the Archers Addicts website, perhaps. I doubt you'd find anyone who has them from the start, though, as that was before the sale of home recording systems.
There are various books which have the stories told in narrative/diary forms, however. A set of three, The Ambridge Chronicles by scriptwriter Joanna Toye, covers 1951-2000:

I'm pretty sure even the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú doesn't have a complete run of programmes from the very beginning. I think episodes from the fifties and sixties are pretty rare but I've no idea when their complete set might start.
I still don't understand why they can't start running older episodes on R7 like they did with Westway. Maybe they can't get the appropriate rights from all the participants in earlier episodes but there must be a point when have have been able to get them for new broadcasts. So why can't they start from there?
I think with Westway they would have negotiated those digital rights from the outset. Back in the days of steam radio they couldn't imagine the possible platforms a radio programme could end up on.
So....
are the present episodes 'kept' anywhere by Aunty?
Here's a good place to re-ask your question:
