I became very hungry listening to the steak and kidney pie episode while driving home. Is that recipy anywhere to be found? It sounded really delicious.

Strange that Auntie Pru's recipes have never been mentioned before? Years ago, probably in the 1960s there was a Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú book published entitled "Peggy Archer's Cook Book". Yet no-one ever mentioned Peggy's recipes, do they?

Rosie T provided this list a while ago:

I have both "Doris Archer's FarmCookery Book" and "Peggy Archer's Book of Recipes."

These have also been written (Chris Squires brilliant booklist squiresfamily.me.uk/... :

Cottage Cooking from Pebble Mill. Mollie Harris Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Books 1976

The Archers Country Cookbook. Martha Woodford (Mollie Harris) Hutchinson 1979 Paperback Arrow 1979

The Archers Pantry Angela Piper Ebury Press 1997.

Unfortunately, Rosie no longer posts here which is a shame as she knew or could find the answer to most queries.

It is possible that one of them includes an Auntie Pru recipe and I think she used to enter something in the F & P.

Thank you so much for that information. Rosie T is a mine of very useful info and I thank you for recounting it to me.

Of course you are correct, Auntie Pru may well have had her own recipes and she did used to do well at the F & P show, as did Uncle Tom.

Errmmmn, may I ask why Rosie T doesn't post here anymore, as you say, it is a shame. Her poetry was wonderful.

Rosie would not like me to assume her reasons.

But I have noticed a few established posters leaving ML, either partially or completely. It may be the style of some more recent posters with their unremitting questioning and inquisition styles and their desire to argue that black is white. And some have been vulgar and offensive at times.

Luckily, in the main, ML remains much more civilised than other boards in the cyber universe but there are a handful of posters who I avoid because I have noticed that banging one’s head against a brick wall tends to hurt after a while.

I agree with you entirely. I honestly think that since Mr. Keri ceased to vet these boards there has been a general deterioration in behavioural standards. In addition, this board in particular has lost its identity and far from being "Notes and Queries" it has become "Discuss the Archers" Mark II. Mr Keri was always very keen to keep the boards on subject and often moved discussions between the boards if he thought the subject was off-topic. It was a mistake to change the title of "Current Storylines" to "Discuss the Archers" as this has served to confuse the function of the board.
I like Tayler's helpfulness and honesty and hope that she too will police the boards as did Mr Keri. I must admit that I too have given up pointing out that subjects may be topic for this board as I too have encountered undisguised abuse from the posters.
I therefore understand why RosieT may not be posting here any more.

    Hello Gene
If you - or anyone else - has any suggestions ideas for the board, please do let me know here in Notes & Queries. It's a busy place and I often miss things if they're not flagged. If anyone thinks a topic is in the wrong place, please use the alert button and ask that the thread be referred to me - this won't hide a post, but it will bring it to the moderators' attention who will bring it to mine.
    Thanks
    Tayler

    Hi Seveek
Thanks for making this point - whilst it's difficult to deal with those who want to argue that "black is white" - not against the house rules, I'm afraid - it's really helpful if people alert the moderators to posts that they find vulgar or offensive. I can understand why some are reluctant to do this, but it doesn't immediately hide a post - the moderator will check it first and make a decision or refer it to the hosts.
    Tayler
