but are you a host, an SW or a moderator please? I'm fairly new to these boards and am writing to a friend about them. Your name appears on the list of Archers nicknames and abbrevs. and I want to tell her who you are.
Mr Keri used to be our Host, and also ran the website and wrote scripts.
he has passed the hosting role onto Taylor, think he is still involved in the website and definitely still wrties scripts
He isn't a moderator - they are a self contained team who work across all the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Boards
Thanks Mabes for the full & clear info.

Our current host is Ms Tayler. (Note the spelling...)
The FAQs (along with many other parts of the website) are long overdue an update, which we have been promised will happen as soon as possible.
As others have said:
Keri Davies (Mr) - one of the Archers scriptwriting team, who also runs the Archers website. Used to be host of this message board.
Tayler Cresswell (Ms) - current host of this message board.
Mods - who knows who these people are?

Thanks Badge - the revamp to the website is still pending (along with all the updates to the content) - we don't have a date yet, but it should be soon-ish.
Tayler
I think the "revamp" is long overdue, Tayler. 'Notes and Queries' is fast becoming 'Discuss the Archers' Mark II, which is not what Mr Keri enforced. Indeed, anything relevant to the current storyline was often moved to DTA forthwith. I note that the majority of the postings on N&Q are now relevant to the current storylines. Not what Mr K intended, I'm sure.

Maybe N&Q should be retitled 'Discuss the Archers Seriously' then. It's certainly a refuge for people like me who don't think discussion of the programme should just consist of a series of silly names.
Or maybe "Notes and Queries" should be just that, and "Discuss The Archers" should be just that?
This blurring of boards makes a nonsense of trying to find answers, and trying to discuss.
I agree entirely, Norah. The retrograde step was when the title of the "Current Storylines" was changed to "Discuss the Archers". Until then the purpose of that board was obviously to deal with what was happening in the script and this board was used almost exclusively for other questions and points about the programme. After the name change Mr Keri policed this board quite vigourously and would point out that threads about a current storyline was misplaced and in some circumstances would even move the thread to DTA. Now most of the threads are about the current storyline and genuine "notes and queries" get buried fast.
Oh yes, another trend I have noticed on here too is the way some posters abuse other posters, albeit mildly, something which rarely used to happen.

Hi all,
I'll do my best to move queries that have become general discussions in future.
As for any posters being abusive, please alert the moderators to any instances of this. As the board is reactively moderated, we rely on Mustardlanders to flag any misuse of the message board.
Thanks
Tayler
Hi Tayler, thank you your assurance that you will endeavour to return this board to its former function. In no way did I mean to imply that you were not hosting the boards correctly, its just that you are a different host to Mr Keri and you have your own, very honest, style. I do appreciate your different qualities.

Hi GB, no offense taken! It's always useful to get comments if something seems amiss with the board, so I can put it right. It can be a busy place, so it's helpful to have something flagged up.
Thanks,
Tayler

Hi Tayler,
When you revamp, can we have our missing "the" in Discuss Archers please? See thread below

Hi janeandtheboys
I'll certainly look into it!

Tayler:
the website is still pendingÂ
Goodie.
Any chance we get some text formatting features and threaded messages back?
Bear
Revamp is apparently to the website, but not to the message board.

Hi Badge
The message board will be updated along with the website - all for the better of course! I don't have news on dates for launch yet. Will post as soon as I do.
Tayler
Oh sorry, I thought Keri had said that the revamp was to the website ex message board. Thanks for the info.

Please, please don't tell us that the MBs will be 'improved' in the manner of 606 or Strickley. That would be unbearable.

How were they 'improved', petal jam?

Oh gawd, you're right, Petal. Please don't let it be so.
Tayler, they've effectively been turned into blogs in everything but name. Awful. Very 'top-down'.
If this board is to be 'improved, I'd be really grateful if you'd find out for us what the changes are going to be. If they're to be anything like the above 'improved' boards, I'll stop using it, and I know a significant number of other posters have expressed exactly the same thing.
The fact that you were recently employed as host gives me hope that they're not planning to go down this route, but I would like to know.
Thanks in advance.

Ahh - then I'm glad to let you know that The Archers message board will effectively be the same - you'll still be able to start threads, post, alert the moderators as per usual.

Will it be compatible with the enhanced functionality offered by the Script?

Hi petal jam - I've no idea, although seeing as the general functions are pretty much the same, I would guess that it would be. I'll see what I can find out.
Tayler
Tayler, just to help you in your enquiries, the 'Script' is something put together by a couple of users of this board, which enhances the functionality in many ways. It is a Javascript application, which runs in both Firefox and Opera browser. It requires the Greasemonkey extension to run in Firefox. More details here:

Hi Badge
I haven't tried the script, despite its deserved fame on this board.
Thanks for the details. Will do some digging re the update,
Tayler
I'm not suggesting you need to try it yourself, Tayler (although I do think it makes using the board a hugely improved experience), but thought it would be useful to have the details so you can, for example, pass them on to the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú communities techs to check that Message Board 4.0 (as I suppose it will be: blue boards, Howerd2, DNA, now ?) will not create an incompatibility with the Script.
'Ö'
...and will the (gulp!) colour remain the same?
