I'm sure there used to be a place near Ambridge called Hotton, or Otton. Nobody seems to go there anymore. They have a fabulous market. Has the Felpersham bypass flattened it or something?
Or am I going all Waggoners Walk and imagining there was such a place?
Could you be thinking of Hollerton I wonder? In the early days of TA it was mentioned in nearly every episode, in much the same way as Borchester is today.
Hollerton isn't nearly as big as Felpersham or even Borchester. Not the sort of place that you go for shopping or an evening out. Just a very small town that happens to have the nearest railway station to Ambridge (Hollerton Junction). That's why it only usually gets mentioned when someone makes a train journey.
Last time I remember hearing about it was when Pip went to Newquay with Jude a few months ago. I think she was supposed to be staying with or meeting a friend there.
Hollerton has the weekly Farmers Market, where Strawberries and Venison are sold by Home Farm. It also had the Band Barford played for? I believe. It's a seperate place from Hollerton Junction.
I think Hotton is near Emmerdale isn't it.

Having just caught up with the last two weeks, I'm glad to find this thread. Until Amside Properties mentioned them, I'd never realised Hollerton was big enough to have Edwardian terraces and a park.
I'd pictured a few sheds round the market and perhaps some unassuming housing on the road to the junction.
