I know we've had a couple of doctors living in the village but I can't remember if there was actually a doctor's surgery? If so, does anyone know what happened to it?
Closed down, the village was divided between 2 practices, I think one in Hollerton and one in Borchester.
The actual site of the surgery moved. When Matthew Thoroughgood was doctor, I think he owned/rented a house with an attached surgery. This property was then used by Robin the VicarVet, and later sold AFAIK.
When Tim Hathaway was doctor, the surgery was somewhere else. Maybe he used a room in a property that belonged to the church? I know Tim lived at Honeysuckle Cottage (now Adam & Ian's), and did not have his surgery there.
I hope someone else with a better memory can confirm this, or correct it.
Alma.
I remember Dr McLaren, but before him was Dr Harvey, whom I don't remember speaking (I could be wrong!). Then Dr Poole, followed by Matthew Throrgood. His successor was Dr Locke (aka Dr Death) who was accused of, errmmm, influencing Mrs Barraclough's will and hastening her departure. Shula received his 'full' attention before he left the village.

I agree, Alma; and we definitely 'went' there. The whole business of the scarf unravelled on those premises, didn't it? But I've no idea where they were. What happened to those 'units' (and where were they?). Could the surgery have been located there? Or was it the old vicarage?
Just wandered round the interactive map and feel dazed and confused!

The old vicarage rings a bell with me too.
Richard Locke lived in Mrs A's flat for a while didn't he? This implies that by then there was no designated house for the doctor.

Thank you all.
Wasn't it the new vicarage, the bungalow, that Tim rented from the church, and is now Alan and Usha's Lovely Home?
In reply to Gene Bailey in Message 4.
Dr Eric Harvey was around in 1952,
and, I think, treated Phil for a cateract in Felpersham.
His part was played by Lester Mudditt.
Best wishes,
Keith
Susan was the Practice Manager at one point IIRC.

Many thanks for that Keith. I was born in 1952, hence my recollection of Dr. Harvey being a bit hazy.
I'm also too young to remember Dr Harvey. Any relation to Jean Harvey?
Don't think so.
Nor a relation of Trevor Harvey!
Best wishes,
Keith

Susan was never the practice manager just a receptionist.
When she lost her job when Doc Hathaway left she lamented that she had never undertaken a Practice Manager's job previously offered years before as this would have given her a better chance of new employment.
I think she was oferred a job by Brian when the bizniz units were taken over by Brian, which she THOUGHT was to be Manageress, but turned out to be the Cleaner?
