I know this is a bit of an odd and rather trivial question, but it's been bothering me for a few weeks and as I've recently learned that some people keep old podcasts, I'm hoping someone will be able to help me.

Back on Monday 7th June, when Susan was querying why Sabrina had called Jim in to sort out her cashing up problems, I think Jill said "He is her neighbour". Can anyone confirm this or am I making it up?

    Close, very close.

Jim had been sorting out change for Daniel, when Susan came in - and was rather put out to discover the till wasn't working. After Daniel had left, Jim explained to Susan that "Sabrina had a little difficulty cashing up last night" ("Huh, typical!", groaned Mrs C), and that she had asked Jim to come in first thing and do it for her, as she would be unable to do so - the old "seaweed wrap" excuse.

Jill then came in (the day's team leader) - Jim had explained the situation to her over the phone - and expressed her uncertainty as to why ST had called Jim instead of her. Jim protested at Susan's insinuations and said that he was not susceptible to ST's sexual manipulations (poor chap, doesn't know what he's missing), and then (to Susan) "I do live next door, after all".

And that is your answer ... if you recall, Jim bought The Old Police House (cannot remember what it is now called), and TOPH is located immediately next door to Ye Olde Village Shoppe.

Thank you Mustafa, you have cleared this up for me. Of course, Jim meant he lived next door to the shop. I thought he meant he lived next door to Sabrina. I thought it was a continuity error, whereas in fact it was me being thick!

What is really behind this is I have been trying for years to find out the name of the road of executive houses behind the shop and the Old Police House (or whatever it's called now). As far as I can tell it appeared for the first time on the 1998 maps without any mention of it having been built. I did think at one point that it was Grange Spinney, and had accidently been added to the map before it was built, but it's been pointed out to me recently that Grange Spinney is further south.

Not sure about anything directly behind Ye Shoppe/police house.

Glebelands was the exec. home development by Jack Woolley in 1979, located immediately to the south of the Green on both the ML & Saddicts maps.

Grange Spinney (where the Thwaites live) was the Borchester Land development of mixed luxury & low cost housing, built in 2003, and on both maps is located south of Grange Farm and west of the Waverley Cross road going south out of the village (assuming both maps are presented on a North-South axis).

There's also an area of sheltered accommodation, Manorfield Close, but that's north over the green from the shoppe.

But behind Ye Shoppe? Cannot help you there, sorry - you'll need Mike or LJG, or one of the other Ambridge buffs.

You can see the road I mean though? It's not on the Addicts 1994 map (the area behind the shop is just fields), but it is on the Magnetic North 1998 map and panorama (the ML map appears to be based on the former). I was listening regularly during that period, and I can't believe a whole bunch of large houses could be put up behind the shop without anyone remarking on it, even in Ambridge.

    Mike, LJG, Matt/Tayler, anyone?
