I have raised this matter in other places but why can't Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú recording engineers learn about acoustics? In sunday's episode of the Archers omnibus there was a scene where Nick and Mia were obviously recorded at very different locations. It was weird. Nick was obviously in a larger space than Mia, while Mia sounded with no acoustic space. It sounded as though she should have been inside Nick's head and not real.It stuck out like a sore thumb. This isn't the first time i've noticed this on the Archers especially. It's always with young children. I realise the difficulty of getting children to say what you want at the right time and the use we now make of digital recording methods where inserts can be made, but come on! it can't be beyound the reaches of engineers to creat artificial ambiance or whatever it's called technically. Please Archers production team, listen to these scenes with the children and see what it sounds like. thanks.

Perhaps record the children in an acoustically "neutral" location, then play them out through a speaker in the same studio as the actors, giving them something to act against at the same time.

It's because all the young children are recorded separately - I'm not sure where. Exactly the same as film inserts in TV dramas when a lot of stuff was done in studio - also stuck out like a sore thumb (then someone invented Harry and all was well).

Harry and his little sister Harriet process video to look like film so you can't see the join. I don't know about now, but 'Heartbeat' was all done that way.

"We've got a Quantel and we're gonna use it!"

(I was going to link to the 1980s "Yes" video for which that was a tagline at the time, but I can't find it /anywhere/... smiley - sadface Bum. )
