i am new to the message board
can i ask why has the person playing sid left the series, it has left such a gap
As I understand it the actor in question has not been in the best of health recently so decided to leave.
Indeed, during his final appearances last year I did notice that 'Sid's' voice did appear to be errmm, changing. When I heard that Alan Devereux was retiring from TA due to ill health it explained my perception of the change.

Hi goldstar14
Welcome to the messageboard!
There's a write up of Sid's departure in Backstage news that you might find interesting.

Thanks for the link Tayler, I'd missed that article.
thank you all so much for the info it is all a bit new this message board but i shall certainly be using again
But it has left such a pleasant gap, hasn't it.
Sid was such a dreadful person/character, such a relief he has been sent to The Other Bar in The Sky.

I rather miss him. He did have a certain lust for life so to speak. I'd rather have a live and colourful Sid than a mourning Joleen.

I liked Sid - he was a pretty decent chap who (like all of us) had his flaws. He was a very credible and rounded character, very "human". TA - well, TB anyway - has been a much poorer place without both Sid & Alan Devereux.
I'd like the original sparky Jolene, and the married-to-Polly Sid, not the Sid who became a nasty bully when married to Kathy onwards. He was not a good person, or even a live and colourful person. he was a dour unpleasant hectoring person.

You missed out homophobic. I agree, at the end Sid was not the pleasant character he started off as. He was brilliantly played by Alan Devereux who really brought Sid to life.
