This is described as being "two miles east of Ambridge".
Yet looking at the new map it is clearly almost due north of the village - assuming the usual convention of north at the top.
Also, am I right in thinking that LL is a rather latecomer to TA.
I can remember Nigel suddenly appaearing as a Hooray Henry type at about the age of 18, but I am pretty sure that it was some time later that LL got mentioned.
As it is a rather grand place is not likely that it should have been mentioned almost from the start?

I prefer not to look at maps of Ambridge, as my own layout was established some time ago.
But I don't think the concepts of NSEW apply to Ambridge, on account of Borsetshire being a Tardis.
I think that this is the first time when it has appeared on the Ambridge map (and of course it's not the first property to go walkabouts on there)
I'd always imagined it to be nearer to Loxley Barrett and with much more extensive grounds than the new map suggests.
I'm sure that '2 miles east' is correct and that the Lower Loxley' label on the new map is wrong. If I remember rightly, the old map had a pointer on the 'Hillside' road pointing eastward 'to Lower Loxley →'. If the hall really is where the new map alleges, where are its extensive grounds? And why has there been no mention of Harry and Jazzer (in Hillside Cottages) being close neighbours?

"And why has there been no mention of Harry and Jazzer (in Hillside Cottages) being close neighbours? "
I was rather surpised about this too.
Also the extensive grounds. It must have these to accommodate all the activities that go on.
Surely stately homes with large grounds are not sited next to the road like that, but rather at the end of a long and scenic drive.
I have just had a look at the Magnetic North map which for many years has been regarded as the authoritative version and Lower Loxley is clearly shown two miles to the east of Ambridge.
I have just be shown the new location of Lower Loxley Hall on the website map. This is clearly one of those things called a MISTAKE which (these days) doesn't seem to be a word in the production team's vocabulary.

Hi all
I've emailed the archivist to ask about this. I'll post back here when I get a response.
Thanks

the extensive grounds Â
Wasn't a lot of it sold off after Nigel's dad died, to pay debts/ Inheritance Tax and stuff?
It seems to have grown again since, but presumably that's a case of Scriptwriters' Licence. We know that the odd feature has simply gone missing over the years - eg at Grey Gables, a garden centre AND a whole railway - presumably, simply from similar plot necessity (ie it was impractical to sustain them). And strands of the programme which are now fundamental to it - eg the Grundies - were not there originally, though in continuity terms Joe's convinced his family have been there as long as the Archers...

For a moment after reading this, I had quite an ISIHAC moment, I must admit...

I do not understand the point. Authoritative in inverted commas tells us nothing. We know where LL is. We also know where the Hall is. Give us a starter for ten on any new information.
Lower Loxley Hall is surrounded by 400 acres of parkland (belonging to LL) and then the tenanted farms they own so it's not going to fit into the corner of the map shown on the new map.

What ten anted farms?
Do we ever hear of them?
We perhaps last heard of them when the tenants were invited to a Xmas Party a few years ago.
Many years ago Nigel and Lizzie considered selling one of the farms to help out with some financial crisis but I think something else turned up.

I don't think the dot on the map is intended to represent the actual physical position of Lower Loxley Hall. I think it is an attempt to put something on the map one can click on to get information about Lower Loxley, without the map having to cover a much larger area. Unfortunately I don't think they have made this at all clear. For a start they could have put the dot on the very edge of the map with something to indicate that the thing referred to is actually beyond the edge.
If we are in the business of looking for mistakes, I think I've recently spotted that the Magnetic North map of Ambridge (on which the old and new interactive maps are based) and the Magnetic North map of Borchester (which Big Tap refers to in message 11) don't agree, despite having been originally published together on one sheet. The Hillside road to Lower Loxley appears to be completely missing from the Borchester map. However, my map reading is not the best so someone else might like to confirm this.

Thanks Tayler.
Mind you, if one of the current predictions on DTA comes to pass, the position of Lower Loxley Hall may be irrelevant after Sunday!
