is there an Archers Blackberry app? I'd love to keep up with the message board while on the bus, in a waiting room, eating lunch at my desk, etc.
    BTW, it's lost a bit of it's mustardy-ness, I observe.

I have installed Opera (a browser) and then downloaded the archers website/my discussion page onto it. I have found Opera best in several respects. The page has 50 posts on it now but the Blackberry allows you to scroll up and down easily enough.

I use Opera just for the archers so each time I open it it comes to my discussions .... just refresh and away you go!

To write in to the Archers you have to use a rather small thumbnail sized box, but it works just fine. I tend to type carefully as reviewing what you've written isn't very easy ... then send it in the usual way.

    ~~Good luck.

    Hi Little Snell

There isn't a Blackberry app for The Archers - hopefully Birdy's tips will help : )

Birdy; please would you kindly give a 'step-by-step' idiots' guide to doing this. I have a BB, but have no idea how to do what you suggest....

    Thank you!

OK .... here we go :0)) I should point out to you that I don't know what I'm talking about .... so good luck!

You might like to just find out a bit about Opera using your computer .... Opera is a browser, ie it allows you to download material onto your computer or your phone. Opera produces a version for mobiles called Opera Mini or Opera Mobile.

You will already have a default browser on your BB ... it is called Browser (one of the thumbnails ... a globe with a yellow arrow going round it) and if you click on it you get the option to download websites from the internet.

So you need to download Opera Mini onto your Blackberry. Click on your BB Browser and begin to type Opera Mini into the space at the top of the page ... hopefully you will end up with the link I've given you at the bottom of this. Click and open it and the Opera Mini introduction page should appear on your phone. Scroll down carefully until you find Download ... (there is a line of type ... a red Overview, Features, Tech Spec, Help and Dowload. Click Dowload.

Hopefully you will end up with Opera on your BB as well as your default Browser. What I do is use Opera simply for the Archers and I have it so it goes straight to My Discussions, and if that is what you would like I'll try and get you there. I have put the Opera logo as one of my six thumnails on the phone screen so I can go into Mustardland 'just like that'.

But first, see if you can download Opera Mini onto your phone.

    Right ... next stage!

I am assuming that your Blackberry has a clicky ball at the top/middle of the keyboard and to the left of it you have a blackberry logo.

Open up your computer in Mustardland and go to Your Discussions page and have the address at the top of that page handy as you will need it. Mine is

When you have installed Opera you click on the Blackberry logo to the left of the ball on your keyboard and you get all the thumbnails of each website/application you have downloaded onto your phone. There should be a big red O for your new Opera application. Click on it with your ball, and you should come to a page with squares on it. Click on a blue one (a spare one) and you go to Add a Speed Dial and you should see Enter Address: You see the blue lined box with www and click to activate it. Type in your Mustardland 'My Discussions' address it will be something like www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbarchers/MP6316532 and click your Blackberry ball and it should download to the next empty box. You should see the Archers page appear as a thumbnail.

Whenever you want to go to your Archers My Discussions page you go to Opera by selecting the Opera thumbnail and simply click on that Speed dial box. Your my Discussions should download.

If you want to clear one of these boxes then press on it with the ball and you get the option to clear or edit it, so you can practice doing this if you want ....

I have moved the Opera thumbnail to the front page of my phone and I'll set about trying to remember how I did that if you would like Opera to be one of the six thumbnails you can click on your phones face.

Here is a link to the Opera Help page which my husband has found for you ... scroll down to "How do I install Opera Mini onto my phone" .... it may well explain all this much more clearly!!

    Have fun!
