Would it be possible , please, to get Vanessa Whitburn to give some of her answers on this Message Board?

As an ex teacher of challenging adolescents I do not have anything to do with Facebook on the advice of my Union.

Similarly with Twitter. There is only space in my life for one Forum.

I can only find links to other Media on the Blog. No proper answers to the questions posed.

I think it only fair that Vanessa Whitburn acknowledge the long time listeners who post on what is after all the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú's *own* Message board. It's not enough to just go to Archer's Addicts. Also not good enough to just have a 3 minute slot on a News programme. I get the impression that a large proportion of posters on these boards are people with a wide range of professional expertise, many at a very high level.

I do not mean Vanessa Whitburn should answer the posts which are personally rude to her, but she should be prepared to address for instance why, she allows the Script Writers to ignore the /*specialist*/ information available all over the boards. eg from a recent notorious episode, an emergency Caesarian Section would not have happened so rapidly ( or so an anaesthetist wrote, just the sort of person who would know!) .
Any patient having had a Spinal Nerve Block is not capable of moving for about 6 hours minimum, /and/ she would have been catheterised which makes being moved in a wheel chair unlikely. Today's hospitals do /not/ have enough staff to take patients to other wards, (the latter from my very recent personal experience).

Over the years there have been numerous errors of this sort. It seems that an Agricultural Story Editor is consulted for accuracy about /farming/ but all other professions are just made up as they go along. ³§¹ó´¡²Ô²Ô±ðâ„¢

    Can I second that please.

I saw the questions to VW, and kept checking for answers, didn't see any. The thread now seems to have disappeared.

I don't do Facebook or Twitter.

I was expecting either answers on the same thread, or a separate Sticky thread that answered the questions.

It clearly didn't help that some of the questions and comments were personal, but there were some good points in amongst it which should be answered on these boards.

There were a few answers, which Tayler kindly pasted in. They're on this page from post number 316 on:

I have seen those. I really would like Vanessa Whitburn to join us and answer some proper questions, properly.

Specifically, TA has traditionally been in "real time", or so I thought. Things take the time they take, whether it's coping with Foot and Mouth, Lambing or getting a replacement Combine Harvester. I would like other things to be in real time too.

In Holby City, Witless Silence, New Tricks to take three examples, we /know/ the time scale is altered for dramatic effect. TA used to be different. I would like to discuss with Vanessa Whitburn why this seems to have changed or only applies to some things. Also why she does not insist on careful checking of facts and procedures. Again for instance, having been in hospital twice this year and had numerous tests and followups it took the best part of 9 months to find out and deal with y condition. I know the fictional portrayal on TV cannot do that, but TA is much more 'real' with lots of threads weaving in and out so should be able to portray more like reality.

I know it's a long time ago but Cathy Perks when still a teacher in a Comprehensive LA School was having an affair with some one and was "popping out" in her "free periods" to meet him. This was a time when in reality Secondary Teachers in LA schools were /obliged/ to stay on school premises a) because of the fire regulations ( every one of us would be responsible for checking a class ) b) at that time we were so short staffed we mostly did not have non-contact time, if we did, we were covering for absent colleagues. I wrote to complain and was fobbed off with " Dramatic Effect". It annoyed me then and still rankles as it would have been so easy to check.

Where, if not on the *Official* *Message* *Board*, would we be able to have a proper explanation of why, and an apology or even a promise to do better next time. ³§¹ó´¡²Ô²Ô±ðâ„¢

Here's the sort of thing I mean about which we should be given an explanation.

Not the Script Writer(s), but the person who gives them the brief. Please.

    Hi SFAnne

Thanks for your posts - I am pulling together a summary of the main discussions from the message board for the team (and for them to respond to) and also to post on the blog. These will come from the questions for Vanessa thread and elsewhere and will include your post. It's a rather large task, given the amount of posts here recently!

I hope that answers your question : )

    All the best,
    Tayler
