I know the last omnibus was edited down to 75 minutes because that is the length of the radio 4 timeslot, but the full version with the whole of the 30 minute anniversary episode should have been 90 minutes and at the time an announcer said you can get the full 90 minutes if you go to the website. But I can't find it and soon it will be another Sunday and that omnibus (if it ever existed) will be timed out.

Like others I was very sorry that the 60th anniversary "celebration" meant killing off a popular character, but this being so I want to be able to hear the full man-or-mouse version and not a lesser one.

So is it possible to get it and download it?

    Please?

From what the announcer said, I got the impression that if you downloaded the podcast it would be the full 90-minute version.

If it's any consolation, I heard the separate episodes and I heard the "edited" omnibus, and the edited version was better - pacier, less awkward silences and generally seemed to run "smoother".

Sorry, found the link - it's at the bottom of this page:

Apparently you can only listen online, despite the announcer assuring us it was available as an extended /podcast/. Hope I'm not too late with the link...

    Many thanks for the link.

I am listening again now but am very disappointed that in spite of what I also had thought I'd understood, I can't download it in full.

I had actually heard the individual episodes (hence I know about the man or mouse comment) but also wanted to download the full podcast, especially as when I listened before some of the time I could only listen with half my attention.

I hadn't till now heard any version of the omnibus, but gathered from the message board that the pivotal moment when David said "are you a man or a mouse?" leading Nigel to decide they would go up on the roof right then (in spite of it being dark, windy, frosty, he and David had already been drinking, Lizzie had said not to, and there are plenty of other people Nigel could have asked the following day when they would have been sober and it would be light) had been edited out. I have just listened to that bit and cannot imagine how it would work (how come Nigel and David went up on the roof) without this section as previously they had decided not to go on the roof.

Thanks Peet. I'm glad to be able to hear it in full, even if the announcers told us wrong and there isn't a full-version podcast so no-one will be able to hear it in full again after this morning.

You mean it won't be played in full on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú7 on the 120th anniversary.....?

    Dear Peet

If it's not indiscreet, may I enquire how it is you became sadly truncated? I hope it wasn't painful and that it wasn't associated with wandering around on a high roof in the dark on frost covered tiles. I'm glad you're still here to contribute anyway and grateful to you for your response to my plea above.

Sadly, Rosie, they changed the "Profile" page on h2g2 without announcing it. I logged in through the "iPlayer" page so I could upload an avatar (don't ask) and when I went back to h2g2 to restore my "long" name I discovered I couldn't. If I had known the profile page had been "updated" I would never have done anything that would have risked losing my name. smiley - cry
