Ms Cresswell.
I know this question has been asked before but I cant find if this has been answered as there are rather too many posts (1185 at the last count) on the "Feedback on New Look" thread!
There is a "Blog" link on the top menu line but no "Messageboard" link. Why not make the "Discuss" tab go straight to the messageboard rather than to the intermediate page which lists the Blog, the Messageboard etc.
If this is not possible, why not put the Messageboard link first on the "Discuss" page rather than after the Blog link?
I know it is only a couple of clicks but surely the Messageboard is of equal value to the Blog in terms of engaging ML ?
Thanking you in advance (and may I add my appreciation of your patience and humour in dealing with the vast range of opinions and questions expressed across the messageboards)

Feel I must have done something wrong (easily done on TA MBs) as there has been no reply to my question.
Burgate may have bumped the "Answers to your feedback ....." thread to resolve my query (if so, thank you) but I couldnt find a response there that answered my question despite a careful search over the last few days.
I know my query is not a "big" problem but I would prefer to go straight to the MB from Discuss rather than navigate through another page.
Can anyone help lead me to some sort of answer?

Someone else is in charge of the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Archers Website. The Host is just a part-time oversee-er of the Message board.

Thanks for reply. But other similar questions have been answered here so I am puzzled why mine has been ignored.

In the absence of an official reply, perhaps I could comment.
First of all I don't understand "surely the Messageboard is of equal value to the Blog in terms of engaging ML ?"
ML /is/ the Messageboard. The Messageboard /is/ML. The Blog is something else.
Back in prehistoric times, before the invention of blogs, social networking sites and tweety things, the home page had a direct link to the Messageboard because the Messageboard was the only Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú-endorsed means of discussing TA online. Life has now moved on. The Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú is now encouraging discussion by a variety of means, but it would not be practicable to link to all of them directly from the home page. Therefore it is perfectly logical to have a Discuss link leading to a choice of discussion media.
What may be considered less logical is having a separate additional link to the Blog. But then, perhaps the Blog is not regarded as exclusively or principally for discussion. Not being blogwise, I wouldn't know about that.

Thanks for your helpful comments. You are right. I didnt mean Mustardland I meant the audience of the Archers website (sloppy wording on my part)..
Your last para is the primary point of my question and prompted some further thought. There may well be an argument for having a separate Blogs link as it is a communication link from the production team to the audience. Whereas Messageboards (and Twitter and Facebook for that matter, although I am not a user of such) are primarily communication links from the audience to each other and indirectly back to the production team. (I would stress the word primarily.)
So there is an argument for a separate Blog link. But if so, and agreeing totally with your point about a Discuss link leading to a variety of discussion media, the second part of my post questioned why the Blog is at the top of the Discuss page when it already has its own direct link. So I asked why not put the Messageboard link rather than the Blog at the top of the Discuss page to eliminate the scrolldown to click the link to ML? That question still stands.
Not an earth shattering issue I know - just one about a balanced user interface.

Hi Dun Diggin
No I don't know why they altered the site so that the MBs are not directly linked to the Home Page.
Since multiple clicking would get me frustrated I usually access MB through `History' on my browser. Then I can go directly to `JPBS's page' or wherever I want!
cheers JPBS

Hi Dun Diggin
Apologies for not getting round to answering your post sooner. I have had some discussion with the web team about the link to the message board and whilst they don't want to add it to the top navigation, they have agreed to change the order of the content in the Discuss page so that the Message board post comes first above the blog post. I'm not sure when this will happen as it's not high priority, but it's on the list : )

Hi Tayler,
Thank you very much. I can understand that it may not be a priority to make the change but it is pleasing to see that the issue, minor though it is, has been recognised and will be addressed.
Thanks again for the response.

JPBS, Thanks for your suggestion. I'll try that.
I guess I've got into the habit of accessing the MB through the menu as I browsed around The Archers website but do get frustrated with the extra clicks and scrolls.
It also looks like Tayler has made good progress with the web design team and I look forward to the "promotion" of the MB in the Discuss page (however, as Tayler implies, it may not happen quickly! )
cheers

I'm really happy to see this. It hasn't happened yet but I'm waiting eagerly. On my own computer the MB is bookmarked but often I'm somewhere else.
