Surely anyone can see this is ABSURD?

It's bizarre, Sallyruth. Yesterday they disappeared altogether for a while, and I thought they'd been wiped deliberately after the 'Otherwise' thread popped up. I quite enjoy the randomness, but wish there was some kind of filter. As they sometimes hang around for quite a while, surely it wouldn't be beyond one of the mods to cast a quick eye over them, in a positive spirit?
I was about to post the same question, Sallyruth.
How absurd can you get?

Just another prove how much 'they' value the MB.
(i.e. how they handle a feature that was invented by them
and has nothing to do with needs or wishes of MLers)
It will be just twitter and blogs very soon.

I noticed that too Sallyruth it really looks stupid!

BUMP
The problem has NOT been rectified.
Can we get a response please?
Thank you.

As our host is a part time worker (4 hours per week?) she will probably get round to ask the powers that be about this problem next
err... Monday.
Or sometime.

Umm ..I think this isn't quite fair to Tayler. This must be the fifth or sixth thread I've seen just in the last few weeks and every time Tayler replies that she has reported the matter.
My guess is that it's a new improved [ahem] bit of the homogenised interactive experience kit which either can't be turned off or is in the hands of the web manager for each programme unit. AT any rate I am convinced that it is not a random selection, even if it is made by machine. You can bet your life that if there is a thread for which the first post is Hidden then it /will/ appear on the List.

I am thinking of starting several ones with the title "No comment"

And today we have--hurrah!--the return of the "& amp."!Â
Very reassuring, especially on a day when there are no hidden or removed messages in the list.
The system has excelled itself today!
3 identical thread titles (about Kenton and Jolene) out of the 5.
Apparently the OP was only posted once but it was mysteriously triplicated and then scooped up into Recent Discussions.

Hi all
I have been chasing this and hopefully will have some news soon.
Tayler
Cheers Tayler, you are a star.
(I actually don't mind it, because I find it rather hilarious, but I certainly don't think it fulfils any useful purpose!)
Indeed, Lemon S, it's intriguing to see how many ways it can mess up!

I think the capricious whim of the Recent Discussions is rapidly becoming my favourite part of the new board. Like one of the TA Silents its entertainment value far exceeds its minor role. Today's choice of three replicates of the same thread is a master stroke. I'd like to see it pick twenty threads, or have each in a different colour or link to a different board entirely....Long live the Recent Discussions.
I'd like to see it pick twenty threadsÂ
IIRC it picks 25 each time, and sends them all to your browser with instructions to only show the first 5 and hide the other 20. That's an example of Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú efficiency.

Long live the Recent Discussions. Â
Have we hurt its feelings? It seems to have gone into hiding today.
Still there, Elnora. No 5 on the list is the 'Closed Thread' query from this section of the boards. Which supports my theory that the selection filter actively searches for discussions which mention 'Hidden' or 'Closed'. If I had the energy I'd put up a few test discussions about closed doors SFX in TA or hidden passages at LoLo just to see what happens.

Curiouser and curiouser, petal. The whole right side of my screen below the divider has gone blank. I'm sure it was populated earlier, so it isn't anything to do with my update of Greasemonkey or a conflict with the Script.
I like the idea of a series of 'test discussions'. Perhaps we could all have a go, and spread the burden; but I'd better wait to see if my list reappears.

Really? That's just splendid.
I also love the idea that the Recent Discussions might disappear for the day.
Ah good, it's back again...
Welcome back, & amp; I've missed you.

My 'Recent Discussions' has returned from its mystery holiday; and the blessed '&' is a bonus.
Going to try a test one next, but if anybody replies I'd actually like to know the answer.

In spite of a set of lively responses on 'Hidden Tunnels', 'hidden' didn't catch our Feature's eye. I must say, though, I like the faint air of a story in today's selection. A bit like Consequences.
What a superb episode!

Congratulations to The Vintneres Driver for getting four out of five threads in today's Recent Discussions. Onwards to the full house.
In fairness to the Recent Discussions, it had a plan. Four out of five threads started by the same poster isn't bad. The fifth thread was a closed one. I guess it was just too tempting a target.
I'm sure it will come good again soon.

I trust Vint's in the Bull now celebrating this event.
I'm getting quite excited about tomorrow's offering now; if RD could do us a Friday cliff-hanger, we could dispense with TA.
