What genre does the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú call The Archers?

I think it has moved from "drama" to "comedy drama".

"Comedy drama" refers to works that are not funny enough to be called "comedy" but do not have a sufficiently coherent plot to be "drama".

Though the Gundry/Lent storyline makes me suspect that "farce" is now the intended style. Just as Dan Quale was "no Jack Kennedy", the present writer is "no Brian Rix".

And on a technical front, how is Clarrie supposed not have noticed that the oven is still very hot? Has the writer never used an oven to know they retain heat for well over an hour?

Tayler I used not to be one of the decriers of present day Archers writing. But it is becoming too hard to avoid.

Either change the players, or get a new manager.

    Hi OI

The show is still a "contemporary drama in a rural setting". But I think you knew that already!

I hadn't checked! But is R7/R4X still a "comedy" channel? Afraid my wirelesses can't receive it, and anyway the tuning is jammed on R4!

But Joe and Eddie running around hiding Sunday Lunch in the van is neither drama nor comedy. It is pure farce.

But sadly underdone. The farceurs need farcing?

Although this clearly isn't a genuine query, I'll say that Radio 7 was a station for both drama and comedy from Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú archives.
