I posted this in DTA so apologies for repeating, but as the new show starts a week today (April 5th) it would be useful to know if you've decided about the most suitable place for discussions, Tayler.
The names of the new characters are already in the Who's Who - don't wish to upset those who want to avoid the whole concept though.

Hi ermintrude,
I'll post something over in DTA before the 5th about this. I had a chat with Keri about it and we think that because Ambridge Extra is only on for a limited time (13 weeks for the first series), we'll see how it goes with using DTA for discussions initially, perhaps using 'Ambridge Extra' in thread titles, for example.
I think it will be almost impossible, in any case, to prevent conversation crossing over if people are listening to both shows.
Tayler
Oh dear. I predict chaos, and a lot more bad feeling generated.

Hi, Tayler. Why not bite the bullet and re-name the Omnibus board, which appears to get hardly any use?
Bit hard on those ONLY listening to Ambridge Lite, to have to go to Diss The Archers, if they are Non-Listeners to Ambridge Full Fat isn't it?
Agree, that will only generate bad Feeling.
I'm not sure why spoilers had to be taken out out of TBU where they seemed to co-exist perfectly amicably with word games. Perhaps they could, as the most junior section of the board, be moved back to make way for discussion of Ambridge Extra or whatever it's going to be called. I agree that merits a separate discussion page but I can't see why Omnibus listeners should be deprived of their bit.
Controversial this may be, but if sections have to be culled to make way for Ambridge Extra why not get rid of The Bull,The Bull Upstairs and/or The Village Hall seeing as topics discussed rarely have anything to do with The Archers?
I would love to know what percentage of the TA website budget is spent on funding these areas of the website and wonder if the money could not be better spent on providing more articles, etc on The Archers.

See other discussions on this topic - apparently the extra cost in server space is negligible, and they actually save money overall because the host doesn't need to spend time reading off-topic threads, and also saves in moderation time because posts and threads are not having to be removed for being off-topic if they are in the 'off-topic' areas. That's why Keri set up these 'off-topic' areas in the first place.

Actually, thinking about it, the creation of the Bull might have been pre-Keri, but anyway, whoever was running this board at the time, that was why it was done (and why those areas haven't been closed before).

Hi Leaps, no the creation of TB was Keri's time and saved an awful lot of grumpiness about people having non TA conversations. Get rid of TB and you're back to that spattiness.
Including Lite in DTA will create lots of spats as people won't know they're meant to use a TAX heading - new posters especially will be given a torrid time so it should be fun for the spat fans. But not much fun for anyone else. Fasten your seatbelts, we're in for a bumpy ride!
Smoke me a TOM ARCHER SAUSAGE, I'll be back for breakfast.
PS How about AmEx?
Sorry, Cath, you're right about that; I was focusing on the financial aspect of it (which Keri did specify - that it saved his and mods' time and therefore Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú money) as that was the issue that was raised. But you're right of course about the 'social' aspect of it - get non-DTA conversations out of DTA so people can d.T.A. in DTA. As it were.
Tayler, in all honesty, I think this decision is one you'll come to regret, because I seriously think it'll cause a huge adverse reaction and lots of bad feeling. The board is only just starting to settle down from the aggravation caused by reactions to the anniversary storyline, and I think having discussions on two separate programmes on the one board will cause a lot of grief.
Perhaps, in the same way that Vanessa Whitburn considered all adverse comment on the anniversary episode to be good 'noise', Keri will consider all of this to be valuable 'exposure' for his enterprise, and wants it on DTA for that reason. But I honestly think the board will suffer as a result.

I agree with that (hope I am wrong, though).

I agree too.
Will there be a synopsis of TAX? Then people who can't /won't/don't listen to it might be appeased. The LA facility on R4X seems to be having a lot of problems at the moment so suggestions that people can listen online may infuriate!
I hope I'm wrong too, Bette.

Tayler:
and
just for starters. Plenty of confusion already, and people who are discussing the 'Extra' programme are by and large not using a TAX or whatever prefix. There are also complaints from people who are choosing not to listen to the extra programme that they are in effect being given 'spoilers' into eg Alice and Chris's relationship, because TAX is broadcasting dynamics which have not yet been broadcast on TA. I do think something needs to be done before this situation gets worse.
