Tayler, I don't know if you can help me with this. When I can't hear TA live I usually LA on my DAB radio via the "Pure Lounge" listen again service. I don't know what relationship, if any, this has with Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú iPlayer. TA episodes generally appear about 2 hours after first broadcast, although they occasionally appear later, or even the following day.
However, more than 24 hours after first broadcast, the first episode of Ambridge Extra is yet to appear. Can you find out whether AmEx will be available on this service? Thanks.

Hi flameofthewest,
I hadn't hear of this service, but I looked it up and if it's this service then the podcast is available there now. The Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú would have no control over the feed to their service, but it looks like you should be able to hear Ambridge Extra from there : )

Thanks Tayler. I noticed on Saturday that the Podcast had appeared. I should have let you know.

Hi Tayler,
I've recently noticed this issue on the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú iplayer too, but with TA. Quite often the only programme missing from the day's podcasts on iplayer is TA - a big gaping hole from 7 - 7.15 despite programmes after this being available. The posting of TA podcasts on iplayer & iPhone iTunes seem somewhat erratic, sometimes immediately(ish) available, but more often than not still missing the following morning.
As a listener that only uses podcasts (I'm not able to listen 'live') I find this lack of consistency very frustrating (and judging by the comments on iTunes I'm not the only one)

Very much agree with the post above and I'm sure it must puzzle and annoy many iplayer users - why isn't TA available by, say, 7.30pm?
It's not as if it's a controversial, live discussion programme where some review might be sensible before hosting the stream. Does someone have to manually upload it? And if so, why does this frequently take so much longer than the programmes surrounding TA in the schedules.
I LOVE the iplayer. It's a wonderful gift from the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú. But waiting hours to listen to something because you missed the first five minutes is painful. Does anyone know whether there's an official line on this or prospect of improvement?

Hi all
The podcasts via iTunes/iPhone appearing late is down to iTunes - the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú doesn't have any control over when they're made available there.
I'm not sure why they're late on iPlayer but will ask,
Tayler

Well, in a way they do Tayler, as they presumably control when the broadcast is sent to the people who run iTunes or TheLounge. These secondary providers can't make available something they haven't got! Can we be sure the delay isn't happening at that point?

Hi Tayler,
Are you any closer to finding out why TA is frequently missing from the iplayer? More often than not TA is the only unavailable programme in the day's iplayer listing.
If you can't find out a reason perhaps you could raise it as an issue to the powers that be as it is a frequent, ongoing and frustrating issue encountered by all of us who cannot listen 'live'.
Many thanks.

Hi again Angel
I've been in contact with someone who looks after iPlayer and he told me the following:
"The Archers wont be treated any differently to the rest of Radio 4's programmes; it's the same automated systems that creates and makes available each audio file for all the programmes but the systems can take a while - anything up to three hours after the end of the broadcast - for the programme to become available."
There's a Radio 4 help page reply about this here:
