Tayler, I wonder if you can tell me the names of all those who are on the newly elected Ambridge Parish Council? Many thanks in advance.
TDM we know that Lynda was re elected, and Richard Thwaite and Jill voted on. I think Christine is still a councillor and David has come off.
It is very likely that in a village the size of Ambridge the PC would represent a cluster of villages. Therefore other councillors would come from outside I should think.
Christine has not been a councillor for some time and I'm sure she did not contest last week's election. Jim Lloyd is as far as I know the Clerk to the Council and I think Neil and the mysterious Audrey would have been candidates this time round.
Christine was clerk to the council (a paid position), not a councillor. Neil is chairman of the council now (he defeated Lynda in the vote a year or so ago).
We have never got from the SWs or Keri a complete list of councillors so it will be a minor miracle if we get one now. The councillors we currently know about are Neil (chair), Lynda, Jill, Richard Thwaite and (probably) the mysterious Audrey. We never knew about Audrey until she suddenly was mentioned by David during his chairmanship a couple of years ago. Jim is currently the clerk.
Other people who have been a councillor at various times include David, Peggy and Jack Woolley, Lilian. Derek Fletcher, George Barford and Tony. (In fact Tony could quite conceivably still be a councillor, he was elected a long time ago when Pat wasn't and we never heard of him retiring).

Hi all
I'm just checking with the production team on this one : )
Tayler
Not necessarily. Parish Councils are often bodies that just cover just one parish. Ours gets together with neighbouring councils to make clusters for particular issues such as traffic, but they don't have a legal status.
Cherrytree, in our village the Parish Council is in fact a rural borough council. It is made up of 3 fairly large villages*, a couple of smaller ones plus a few hamlets and settlements. Only the Clerk and I think 2 or 3, at the most councillors, come from our village.
Given that Ambridge, according to the map, looks only a medium sized
village I was surprised they had a PC to themselves. Perhaps my situation is unusual.
Anyway it will be interesting to see what Tayler can find out.
* population of 1,000 approx.
A Parish Council is a lower form of authority than a Borough Council. it has very little power and is usually just one village or a series of settlements. There is not a lot of actual legislation, and limited tax gathering. For instance when there is a planning application we can give our views to the Borough Council who make the decision. We are responsible for any land owned by the Parish, and make decisions on grass cutting, where the dog bins should be and collecting rent for allotments, that sort of thing. In a huge geographical but sparsly populated Borough like the one I live in , the local nature of the Parish Council is very important-some people would find travelling 30 miles to the Town Hall very difficult and expensive.
Tayler, I'm bumping this thread in case you've been able to find out anything from the production team.

Tayler
Many thanks.
Hi Tayler. It's a couple of months since the parish council elections were held so I'm wondering if you have any news to pass on from the Production Team?
Please Tayler

Hi all
I can reveal that those on the Ambridge Parish Council for 2011 are:
Chair Neil
Clerk Jim
Committee: Jill Archer, Lynda Snell, Richard Thwaite, Oliver Sterling, Audrey
- Tayler
Thanks very much for this Tayler.
That's a very small Parish Council. By the way it isn't a committee the members are councillors.
