You click on the thread and add &cmd=unsubscribethread after the bit that says 'thread=whateverthenumberofthethreadis'

I've tried doing this, but can't see where the thread number is or how you find it. Any suggestions?

Janie means that you add that to the end of the URL (web address) showing at the top of your browser while you're in the thread, then hit "Return".

It worked! My dificulty with these instructions is that I've got lazy over the years - I've got used to ringing up user support and letting them remote control my machine.
Thanks a million for the clarification.

Hi Dave, for example, the URL for Dusty's 'towel' thread ends in :
mbarchers/NF2693940?thread=8233023
So if you wanted to unsubscribe from it (not that you do, I'm sure) you would put &cmd=unsubscribethread at the end of the URL like this:
mbarchers/NF2693940?thread=8233023&cmd=unsubscribethread
(I didn't put the complete URL with all of the www and http and bbc etc because would turn into a link and you wouldn't see it all.)
It takes a lot longer to explain than to do!

Thank Janie - I couldn't make it work at first because I was separating things with gratuitous forward slashes or spaces. Once I wrked out to keep it continuous, it was fine!
Your advice has enabled me to rid myself of religious discussion and "Britain's Got Talent" - bliss on both fronts!

Dave, if you have a look at this thread - - a bit further down the mayo, I've included a tip about opening threads in new tabs which can speed up the process if you want to unsubscribe from a number of threads.
(You can also use &cmd=subscribethread to add a thread to your discussions list without posting on it.)
