Hi All
My wife is a huge Archers fan and I was hoping to get her something Archers related for Christmas. Does anyone know if there are any Archers gifts available, and also a bit of a long shot, but has anyone heard of people being able to visit a recording of it?
Thanks
Dip

Saddicts do Pressies I believe.
As to visiting the studio, I don't know other than if the Production Team are asked a question they don't want to answer, they invite a couple of representatives of the thousands who are asking ( but not any of us in ML) and take them round The Mail Box and answer every question you could possibly think of about the SFX etc but not a word about continuity errors or out of character behaviour.
Hope this Helps. SFAnneâ„¢

I don't think visiting a recording is an option unless you're The Queen or something. Tours of The Mailbox have been done, but usually as an offshoot of a Birmingham Meet.
You can email keri.davies@bbc.co.uk for more authoritative information.
Group visits to the studio take place very occasionally but are not done on an individual basis. Some of us visited the studio in 2001 or 2002 when it was still at Pebble Mill (the "MB convention") and I believe more recently there was an event connected with one of the big anniversaries.
What you can do is go and peer through the windows of the studios in the Mailbox shopping centre in Birmingham, but I would guess that the limited amount you can see would not justify the journey.
There are other events where members of the cast and/or production team turn up and there would be an opportunity to meet them, most recently at a special event/ exhibition put on by the museum of rural history in Reading. You are more likely to see these events advertised on the Archers Addicts site (mentioned above).
The link given was for Archers Addicts not Saddicts.

Hi dip
There's a website for Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Tours here:
You won't see a recording, but you should get to see the set!

Eh?
2 mikes* and a table?
*Of course, there is only one Mike.
I was in a garden centre today and saw a quite nice looking Archers calendar for 2012.
I have the official 2011 Archers calender hanging in my kitchen. It doesn't mention that it is Armistice Day, but says it is both Diwali and Guy Fawkes Day. Disgraceful! I posted a short thread in The Bull yesterday.
However I can recommend the tour of the Mailbox and the Archers Studio.
It DOES have REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY on the 13th printed, though.
Odd that it has Guy Fawkes Day on the 11th November, agreed.

There is actually a really impressive studio, the best dead room in the world, and there is certainly not just a table with a mic on it.
The centre-piece of the sudio is The Till, of course (used in the sadly infequent change-counting ritual).

the best dead room in the worldÂ
I imagine Tom that it is, sadly, devoid of those characters for which it is so perfectly named.
Oh that it could be inhabited soley by the lifeless corpses of Ruth, Pip, Ed, Emma, Kathy, Pat, Chris and Alice, Brenda & your name-sake.
Soon.
