Really, please!
I am one of the many listeners who doesn't want to know what any of the actors looks like, as it spoils the pictures that I have built up in my head over the years.
I do not want to log on to the R4 website of a weekend and find that the featured photo is Will and Nic.
Stop with the endless TA promotion or find some other visual representation.
Thanks!

Many of us agree, cat_modern, and have asked many times for this to be rectified, but have basically been told by the editorial team to lump it. Here's what Tayler found out for us a few months ago:

As I posted on another thread, "You may not wish to see photographs but I enjoy them ."

And you would still be able to enjoy them, dickie, if the default was set to 'hide photos' by clicking the 'show photos' button - while people who don't want to see the photos wouldn't have their mental pictures of characters irrevocably spoiled.

I think there are two points here. LB talks of the Who’s Who and the OP of the news articles.
The answer to the former is simple; before looking at the character you seek, click on one who does not have a photo, say Amy, turn pictures off and peruse at leisure.
To the latter; create a direct link to the board and bypass the articles.
People should be allowed a choice but some want to have their preference as the one we all suffer.

I think the OP's objection was to photos of the front page. I've just had a peek and that's where the one of Will and Nic is. Unfortunately the only solution for those of us who don't like them is to avoid the front page.
I do agree with Leapers though that the silhouette should be the default on the character pages.

Oh, apologies; I didn't read carefully enough. Thanks for the correction, both of you. Yes, in the end I had to avoid backstage news articles (RIP) and the front page, because of the actor photos which inevitably dominated them. It's a shame that listeners who don't want to see actor photos are not able to read articles.

Tayler,
Thanks for your comments on profile pictures on another thread (and Leaping for posting the link). But, this is a different issue. I listen to R4 for many other reasons than to catch up on TA. I can't/shouldn't be expected to avoid the R4 homepage in case there are TA promo photos posted there.
What is the benefit of posting these pictures on the R4 homepage, and how does this outweigh the inconvenience to (usually longtime) listeners who prefer to keep the pictures 'in their heads'?
If you must push TA on the R4 homepage, can't you use alternative images of Ambridge (the place). If your intent is to attract new listeners, they won't know who the featured characters are, and so won't be influenced by photos of them.
Thanks
