Sure as eggs Lilian would not have organised a "wonderful party" for Mrs Mary Archer had Tony's marriage to Mary Weston gone ahead. She never got on with her. But why.....?
Sure as eggs Lilian would not have organised a "wonderful party" for Mrs Mary Archer had Tony's marriage to Mary Weston gone ahead. She never got on with her. But why.....? Was it because Mary dumped Tony, or because Lills sensed that She would eventually hurt him? So long ago I have a hazy memory of her. Was she a rather strident feminist? She was, I am sure, a milk recorder. The actress, Kate Crutchley, left to do other work I think. c/lx

I have a feeling that she might have been a peripatetic farm secretary. A species which probably doesn't exist any more.

Peripatetic Farms are quite rare these days.

Well, Lilian just seemed to take against her from the start. Perhaps it was a sixth sense vision that she would shortly jjust push off. That's the real Lilian for you, very gifted!!
I must say I can't remember this.
I do have recollections of a young "Flash Harry" Tony squiring various glamorous young ladies*, but I can't recall this name. Still it would have been about 40 years ago I suppose.
* Like David and Sophie who returned a few years ago of course. But he was the next generation.

It was a bit of a dry-run for the Sophie situation, as Tony and Mary were engaged. I wonder if she'll turn up on the doorstep all sultry, like Sophie did....
What happened to Sundial House btw...?
The actor playing Mary decided she didn't want a long term part in TA. So they sent her on holiday, and she broke off the engagement by post.
Libby Jones, the milk recorder, Tony had her in the back of the cab as well....

Of course Tony was also very keen on Jane Petrie - a mature woman at the Field Studies Centre - but she was not impressed. A sort of dry run for the John - Sharon scenario - altough the outcome was eventually different as we know....
I had got it wrong; she was a farm secretary and not a milk recorder. And Kate Crutchley was an actRESS.c/lx
Mary Weston waa the farm secretary.
Libby Jones was the milk recorder.
Each actor was a female actor.

Libby Jones was the milk recorder.Â
A milk recorder is like a chocolate teapot?
Presumably frozen milk - but must be hard on the lips?
And insofar as it is a record keeping job - why can't the Dopeys do it for themselves? Surely modern parlours record output per cow automatically, and bleed off samples as required?

If there have been female actors, perhaps there have been some male actresses...?
Some people I think would have a very hard time in countries where every noun has a gender, including inanimate ones, so I think this conversation would not occur...

I'm not sure it was opposition - it was more just an instant chill between them which was never explained.
Ah, Carmarthenshire eh? Then Pat would almost certainly have been brought up as a Welsh speaker.
