Why do we never meet the denizens of Ambridge walking their dogs? Since Captain departed this world Ambridge has been a yap-free zone, which seems unnatural for a rural community.
I have occasionally heard references to dogs forming part of the family, for example at Brookfield, but do they never need to be walked? Walking the dog is such a sociable activity - people stop and chat, and even dog-owners who don't know each other will strike up conversations, so it seems to me that it would be a great plot device. And of course it would open up other possibilities - Lynda could campaign against dog mess, for instance. Please don't keep all the dog-related events (puppy show etc) offstage - let's hear some barking!

A frequent lament in ML, Alison!
Lynda is periodically to be found walking her dog Scruff (which had been Daniel's dog, at The Stables, until it became too much for them), and when Will is around and about he often refers to Meg & the-other-one.
Last thread, I think, to cover this was:
Otherwise, Ambridge is indeed a curiously dog-free zone. The village in which I used to live had about 23 houses, only 2 or 3 of which did not have dogs; there must have been around 40 dogs in total among the remaining houses.

Must have been a centre of excrement?
