Am I right in thinking that Jim is a Guardian reader?
I'm not sure how I got that impression though!
JPBS
Don.t Christine and Jim do the Telegraph crossword together?
Jim has bought the Guardian from the village shop on at least one occasion, so that probably establishes him as a Guardian reader. I don't remember which crossword they do being mentioned. But it could be Christine's Telegraph, if Telegraph it is. Her little brother was a Telegraph reader after all.
I don't think he has ever bought a paper in the shop, and certainly can't remember him doing so: he gets them delivered.
The only occasion on which I remember mention of what newspaper Jim took was one on which the wrong one had been delivered. I think it was Annette's fault, because she had made a mess of the sorting for the delivery boy.
Unfortunately I cannot remember whether he had been given a Telegraph instead of a Guardian or the other way round.
Yes, I think you're right about the reason he had to get it from the shop - because they'd delivered the wrong paper. It was undoubtedly the Guardian that should have been delivered though..
Can you find the date? I am unable to find it, so I can't make sure which newspaper had been delivered in error, and which was the one that should have been. I am sure that both the Guardian and the Telegraph were mentioned.

I have no idea of the date I'm afraid as I rely purely on memory, but I think you're right that it was when Annette was sorting the papers. It probably sticks in my mind because it seemed unlikely to me that Jim would be a Guardian reader, seems more of a Telegraph type imo.

Yes I remember it being Annette's mistake - it was just one mistake among many I think.
Possibly when she became aware of her pregnancy - or guilty about Leon?

My memory is that he was delivered the Guardian instead of the Telegraph. But I don't have notes to back that up - it's simply my recollection. Was it Annette's fault? I thought it was after the shop went 'community' and there was all the mix-up over volunteers.

I'll check which paper it was as I can't remember either!

Thank you very much.
I think it was because both were mentioned in the same scene that I can't remember which had been delivered and which should have been.
I would have him down as a Telegraph reader rather than a Guardian one. (I think I would say the same of Christine.)
I got the impression that Jim and Christine did the crossword together but each had their own copy of the newspaper, whichever one it was. Just thought I'd add to the confusion.

I'm sure you are right, Dora. Jim came round on one occasion and noticed that Christine had got the answer to one of the clues and he had not, and that must have been two different copies of the same newspaper.

Hi all
Jim had The Guardian delivered in error. The archivist has checked and is pretty sure they didn't say which newspaper Jim was supposed to receive.

I clearly haven't had my morning coffee yet!
I meant to say that the mix up was with Oliver's paper, not Jim's. They haven't said which paper Jim reads!
Apologies!

Oh dear. Then we've all got dodgy memories. I'm sure Jim was involved, in which case I suspect it must have been he, volunteering in the shop, who announced the mix-up on air.
Thanks for finding out.

Yes, what a fickle friend memory is. I think it would be safe to assume that the paper Oliver should have had delivered was the Telegraph, wouldn't it?
Thanks Tayler

After my father died I actually changed to the Telegraph so I could provide remote assistance when my mother got stuck.
And I moved back to it wen the Times went tabloid

I hope at least one person in the enclave read The Guardian.

I am glad Jim is not a Guardian reader. I can’t stand him and do not want him to have any redeeming features.
Kathy might be a Guardian reader? Kenton possibly? Alistair probably reads The Independent. .

I'd be amazed if Pat wasn't a Guardian reader.

Kenton might manage "The Beano", but something like the Guardian? Not a hope.

Sometimes people can suprise you with their papers.. I had a fairly left wing boss who I was astonished to discover took the Telegraph but he was also a big sports fan and they had the most comprehensive coverage.

Maybe I'm your former boss, Ginslinger. I gave up the Guardian for the Telegraph several years ago mainly because it's a better written and honester paper, even though it certainly doesn't reflect my politics. And you're right the sports coverage is better too.

Hmm may be ... do you have a springer spaniel called Jack that sends you a single rose to the office on Valentine's day?
