In recent times the Grundy's cider has become greatly respected by the the denizens of Ambridge, with much village labour and the goodwill of Oliver Sterling contributing to its continuance. However, I recall a time when no one, apart from Joe Grundy himself, admitted to drinking the stuff. In fact, I recall it being called "filthy stuff" by one village resident , I can not exactly recall whom (could have been Phil Archer), and it was generally considered to be undrinkable by most.
How times change, with Borchester Beauty now being the favoured single apple variety ahead of the Kingston Black which Joe used to keep as his best.
Apart from Joe, the only other person who used to be credited with drinking cider was Zebedee Tring, but his tipple was scrumpy, bought and imbibed in The Bull.
Can anyone else confirm my memories?
