Are all of the pickers from Poland? Tha'sall
tyvm thyme
I'm asking because of the Nastarovia on Weds episode when they went for an evening out in the Bull
"zdrowie" works in Polish too.
Do either of them work in Russian?
здоровье works in Russian!
Same words; just different ways of writing them down!
It is a secret plot for the Poles to take over Ambridge.
And about time too.
Soon borscht will be featuring on the BF menu, JD will be whipping up bigos and cheesecake will be the pudding of choice in every right thinking household. Shires will be replaced by bison grass vodka and Stolat* will be sung on every possible occasion.
Excellent. And given how Alan is into multi-culturalism, can we expect to see an icon of the Black Madonna appearing in St Stephens?
* Multi purpose song in Poland for all celebrations. Roughly translates as 'good luck, good cheer, may you live a thousand years'.
Isn't it only 100 years?
Will Willum make them put their Perch back in the Am?
And Alan lead the flock into the ordinariat - or simply hold Mass in Polish and not tell the Bishop?
You are right - 100 years. Like all good Poles, I'm prone to a little exaggeration...
As for the perch - we prefer carp!
I'd love to hear Alan conduct a service in Polish! the last one I was at was the funeral of General Maczek, complete with Papal Nuncio, honour guard saluting the coffin with swords etc. That would really shake Ambridge to the core (can you spot the heavy sarcasm?)
My former Polish GF and family always said "sto lat"
translates as "hundred years"

gin dobry ("good day" - phonetic spelling for English!)
I knew "perch" was not what I get fed at Wigilia, but was carp at recalling the other word.
Dobry wieczór (good evening!)
I'm just impressed you know that much.

Hi thyme
The pickers aren't all Polish. There are Polish ones this year, and it’s not specified as to whether or not there are other pickers from other countries, or indeed the UK. In the past there have been pickers from Bulgaria and the Ukraine.

Adam Macy picked a pack of Polski pickers.
How do they recruit pickers?
IRL aren't they all brought in my nasty gangmasters ?
Home Farm seems more like a kibbutz?
Didn't Debbie get them form Hunary - which at least has logic?
And Debbie got some pickers from Hungary one year.
