I always used to read the synopsis of each episode if I didn't have time to listen. Now they seem to have disappeared. Please put them back!

    Hi penwiper

You'll find the synopses on the catch up page:

    - click on the "First broadcast" link to see them. I don't think last night's synopsis is up yet, but it should appear soon.

Tayler is that supposed to be intuitive?

AND DON'T DO IT if you object to cast photographs.

Sorry, Tayler, but it isn't. This has been going on for weeks now, with both the old incarnation of the site and this new one.

Nope still no sign of Tuesday. Tayler if the intention is to show the synopsis after the repeat why won't you tell us that?

    It's on Archers addicts at

    www.thearchers.co.uk...

Their wording is often the same so how come they can get it up so much more quickly?

I don't think that is the intention - I'm in the process of finding out what the problem is. I'll post back when I have further information.

Tayler, sorry that you get such a hard time over things.
I know people find site disruption etc frustrating, and I'm no exception to that, believe me.
    I hate it too!
However, it's not your fault, so well done for hosting all the message boards, or discussion sections on the archers message board, or whatever you call it.
I hope you find out sometime.
Do you write scripts etc as well, or are you purely responsible for just the message boards?
Not sure if I'm allowed to ask. If not, I apologise and a moderator can remove this section of my post.

Guys, I agree and know it's frustrating, but poor Tayler isn't to blame for any of the things we have been, are, or will be unhappy with ...
    I'm sure ...

    Hi Ayesha

Thanks for your kind message - I'm just here to look after the message board and I also help to manage The Archers' Twitter and Facebook accounts too.

Hi Tayler, it's absolutely no problem.
Gosh I do envy you, it must be an interesting job, though a time-consuming one.

Who looks after the board when you're out, asleep, away, not working, etc?
I know you're the host, but what happens?
Also, do I presume that you're an archers fan yourself?
Also, besides posts on information we might find useful, and answering people's queries, do you join in discussions?
I do hope so, as it would be nice to hear from people at the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú as well as from listeners.
Then we really would be a community.
Do the actors and actresses ever post, without giving away anyone's identity? Do they ever know what we think and conjecture, perhaps smiling to themselves if we've got something right in our guesses for storylines, or shaking their heads if we've got things wrong?

Sorry for the questions, it's just that I'm intregued and a bit envious!

    Smiles

    Hi Ayesha

I'm sure others will be along to add answers to some of your questions as I've only been here for a couple of years (the board has been here for 12 years).

Who looks after the board when you're out, asleep, away, not working, etc? I know you're the host, but what happens?
I work part time here - the board is looked after 24/7 by a group of moderators who will look into any posts that are alerted to them. I do have the occasional holiday and a colleague will step in to look after the board. Before I was here, the board was looked after by Archers scriptwriter Keri Davies - he occasionally pops in.

Also, do I presume that you're an archers fan yourself?
Yes! That was one of the requirements for the job. I've been a listener for over 20 years. My favourite characters are Lilian and now Tracy!

Also, besides posts on information we might find useful, and answering people's queries, do you join in discussions?
I do hope so, as it would be nice to hear from people at the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú as well as from listeners.
Then we really would be a community.

I do occasionally contribute to discussions here but I spend a lot more time reading the posts and threads.

Do the actors and actresses ever post, without giving away anyone's identity? Do they ever know what we think and conjecture, perhaps smiling to themselves if we've got something right in our guesses for storylines, or shaking their heads if we've got things wrong?
I'm not sure if actors post here in secret! I know they sometimes look at discussions on the board. Tim Bentinck, who plays David Archer, has posted here under his own name in the past. I think there was another actor who popped in the not so distant past - I think it was Barry Farrimond who plays Ed Grundy? - someone else might remember for sure.

Hope that helps to answer some of your questions

Ayesha, I'd just like to ask you if it's very annoying for a jaws user when a poster uses capital letters. Does it make the screen reader shout?

Ayesha, I'd just like to ask you if it's very annoying for a jaws user when a poster uses capital letters. Does it make the screen reader shout?
That depends on what settings you have your jaws - job access with speech - but those of us who use it usually call it jaws - on.
If you have it set to announce capitals, then yes, it probably will.
I have mine set to letters, so I can hear what I'm typing if I wish. I also have the capitals at a slightly higher pitch.
However, I don't when I'm reading because that would get annoying.
However, friends of mine prefer to have all the capitals announced.
There are various screen readers out there.
jaws happens to be very expensive, but some claim it's the best one for navigating the internet.
there are others though, and none of them have the internet perfected, as they can't read immages or smiley faces or anything like that.
however, thank god for them, otherwise, I don't know how I'd survive on here!

Please ask me anything you guys like.
Should I start a new thread on disability issues perhaps?

    Smiles

Thanks for the information Ayesha. I'm glad to hear that you can set your screen reader to avoid being shouted at. As you say, it would get rather annoying otherwise.

It would indeed, but there are lots of blind, partially sighted, or are we all called visually impaired, people out there, those of us who use jaws anyway, there are a lot of people who prefer being shouted at, though I don't know why.

I'm not one of these, however.
