According to this week's ' Ambridge Diary' in Radio Times some idiot who gives only his initials - JA - claims that Moike has......'lost and arm. an eye and a wife'.
When did he lose an arm anyone (Tayler)? He lost the plot when he married the vile Vickie but armless he is not. Having twits write the TA is now compounded by having a twit writing about it.
Pah!

BG it is thought it might be intended as a zeugmatic
"a FARM an eye and a wife"
Though maybe he lost an arm off-mike and it has simply not been mentioned previously?
Who is 'JA' anyway'? In what way is (s)he qualified to write an Ambridge 'Diary' notwithstanding that the feature isn't a diary in the strictest sense but a preview of the week to come rather than a record of what has already occurred.
I think we should be told; JA = jackass?
If he lost an arm it was definitely off Mike!
[Eye thenk ewe]
Wouldn't this question be better addressed to the editor of the Radio Times? I can't see how any member of the production team can be held resposible for silly mistakes in a magazine they have nothing to do with.

JA is Jane Anderson. Her name appears at the top of the column in which the Ambridge Diary appears. She writes both parts of the column - a programme review and the regular Archers piece.

Armless Mike is not an invention of The Archers team! I'd contact the Radio Times (no longer part of the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú) if you want to complain.
Tayler
I was about to post the same question - this time in relation to the Who's Who section of this site:

Archers highlights
Mike’s mental breakdown after losing his arm and his eye. And for the same reason, the death of Betty. Both stories extended the character’s emotional breadth, were wonderfully written, and involved my favourite Archers actor and my wife of 34 years – Pamela Craig as Betty.
More recently I enjoyed the potential for comedy and pathos in Mike’s character, especially in his search for luurve!
Ha !!!
I'm guessing whoever wrote that dropped an "f" in a typo, and the RT did their research there.
You're probably right. A shame though - a cross between Tugger and Davros could have possibilities...

... which has now been rectified.
Thanks again
Tayler
Thanks Tayler - thought I'd missed a fairly hefty chunk of back-story! Didn't know the error had been repeated in RT - just goes to show how easily an error could become "truth" if not corrected…

It also goes to show that JA isn't a 'proper' Archers listener as if she was she would have known that Mike still had both arms. Didn't he recently say something about 'I just want to hold her in my arms' when saying how he wanted to comfort Vicki? Quite worrying what a huge difference in meaning the omission of one wee F can make...
One wee F seems to be the root of many of Moike's problems at the moment.

Pete had nothing against Dud's left leg.
OI - I know we've occasionally had our differences and of course I respect the fundamental right of any person to hold differing opinions to mine.
But there are limits. I cannot let such appalling ignorance go unremarked, especially on a public board where it might, through repetition, acquire the status of "fact".
/Right/ leg.

Snork.
But are you going to provide the punch line if I offer a corrected
"Pete had nothing against Dud's right leg"
For those that know it, it would make no difference, but I'm not going to spoil it for those that don't!
Here it is, in all its glory:
