Ed was set up by Wolly Sterling to take over Wolly's herd when Wol & Caz bought GG.
He produces milk for Mike's milkround. Not clear on the commercial arrangements.

In August 2009, Mike and Ed made a share-farming agreement, with, I think, a loan from the bank, following a business plan costing £2,000, which Joe gave to Ed (it was Joe's Funeral Fund).
Oliver rents the land to Ed, Ed and Mike jointly own the cows and the milking equipment, Mike owns the bottling plant and the milk vans.
Ed sells the milk to Mike.

Ed said he would pay Joe back s quickly as he could (before Joe died and the fund was needed).
Do not know if he has done so,

At the time Ed was setting up his business I got the impression that he wasn't entirely happy with the contract Mike drafted for them. Then all of a sudden he WAS happy enough (with nothing happening to make him change his mind) and he signed it.
Now Mike has dropped the price he is paying Ed. I wonder if Ed will ever start to wonder if Mike is exploiting him.

With such interconnectedness, I wonder that we never hear Mike and Ed discussing costs, 'wages' etc.
What costs do each of them meet? They jointly own the cows, but presumably all the feed and vet bills go to Ed, as well as the rent on the land? Mike must meet the costs of bottling and his milk float.
What is the size of the herd? I believe Vicky invested in some of the cows - so what return does she get for that?

From what little I know small herds are not viable unless you do value added products like BriF.
All they have is the high selling price milkround.
