How can I get a gardening apprenticeship? I need to find someone to take me on, but I don't know where to go, or how I can convince someone to take me on.

The National Trust still do this I think:
Or if you have a local college, or garden centre, they might have some information to help you. Good Luck.
Look in the Yellow Pages. A friend's son wrote to about 60 landscape gardeners from our local directory a few months ago and was lucky enough to have replies from a handful, one of whom took him on. He is now getting plenty of hands on experience plus one day a week off to go to college to study for a horticultural qualification.
Good luck.
You need to find your local Horticultural college and see what course's they have.
The link you provided on your message gace loads of info, it's great! I've just written to 6 different National Trust properties asking them for advice on how to get into gardening as a career and what qualifications you need before you can work for them. I could've just read it on the website and saved myself the cost of sending letters! Are there anymore websites that you know of with similar info?
ping!
Two other places come to mind, Kew offers internships and the RHS which has gardening careers of all sorts. Here are the links:
Happy hunting.
...three more options:
Check out the Institute of Horticulture website for careers advice, especially the "Education and Training Courses Booklet" link in the middle of the page for lists of horticultural colleges -
The Royal Parks in London offer an apprenticeship - - which gives apprentices a really solid start in amenity horticulture.
The Historic and Botanic Garden Bursery Scheme has a number of apprenticeships running around Britain -
I think an apprenticeship is the best route into professional horticulture, so good luck tracking a place down!

thanks
They often have them up on here, you may have missed this years, I know Bristol zoo does them too..

What about that women gardeners something or other? Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? I'm so sorry I can't remember the name of the scheme right now, but its an organisation that does training of women gardeners with professional gardeners. Ring a bell anyone?
Funny I was looking that up the other day as I'd quite like a trainee.

Ah well done for finding the site, Supermum. Btw, Tinkebell, I was at the Malvern show the other day and I noticed they were advertising some sort of mentoring thingy with Chris Beardshaw, don't know if that's appropriate to your needs but just thought I'd let you know.
