Hello there. I'm new to all this blog stuff, so I hope you'll forgive me for any mistakes!
I had a lovely mother in law who passed away last October, aged 90. She had severe dementia and couldn't make sense of some things, but knew it was Friday when GW came on. She remembered Monty and Joe, but always called Carol- Carol Clean! So now when I watch GW, I remember her and have a smile to myself.
    Anyone else have good memories?

    Hi there
Can't think of anything in particular, but just to say I think that's really sweet about your mother in law knowing if its GW it must be Friday! Funny (and moving) the little things that remind us of people who have gone. smiley - smiley

Actually, just thought, I suppose the thing that always always reminds me of people is the plants that they have given me. Whenever I look at them, I remember the giver.
I like to give away plants as much as possible, too - I think being generous with plants, seeds and produce is one of the joys of gardening. I guess I also hope there are a few people out there who remember me by plants I handed out, too!
There used to be a garden up the road from me that a woman was starting off and I gave her nearly all the plants she has, as I was going through a propagating frenzy at the time (of plants, you understand...) She no longer lives there, but I go past the front garden and I see all the plants I gave her all grown up now and it gives me a good feeling to feel I brought them into the world and found them a good home.

Aspidistra, I know exactly what you mean. I have lots of plants in my garden which were given to me over the years as 'swaps' as well as gifts. My pom pom primulas are 'Jimmy's',(he was a friend of my Mam and Dad), and my pulmonarias were from my daughters' teacher, Joan Russell, after I told her about some flowers I could remember my Grandma having in her garden when I was little. I remembered watching the bees in the flowers and I found it very funny when they wiggled their tails! Joan brought some to school for me from her garden and I now have a double memory,as neither Joan nor my Grandma are around any more. Sorry if this sounds morbid, but I really am smiling as I write! smiley - biggrin
