Is it me or are you being distracted from Chelsea Flower show with the "creation" of Mr Titchmarshs new coiffure and sideboards. Would probably give him a silver gilt award for that design!
It's you...
You're probably right!
Nah, it's not just you:
Yes, totally distracting sideburns. He is looking very well, but what's that about? They look like a make up artist has sort of painted them to blend into his cheekbones. I'm all for a bit of topiary but this is excessive.
Dame Wombat, brilliant!!!!
Also I kept looking at them last night and I swear one sideburn is higher than the other, they almost look stuck on. I haven't the faintest idea what he was saying, it was like someone having a bit of spinach stuck between their teeth, just had to keep looking.
Maybe this is a new bit of eco-gardening, you sort of grow odd seedlings on your face or something to save space around the greenhouse? Perhaps a bit of cavolo nero or something.

Do you think AT has taken the Japanese horticultural influence a little too far on board?
Sometimes - not always - I'm just so pleased that I have poor eyesight.
Most people look lovely to me - in a blurry romantic sort of way -.............
Yeeuuughhhh! Nooj!
I agree, I thought someone had possibly said, 'Come on Alan, let's smarten you up a bit. Let's see if we can get them to forget all those woollies you used to wear!'
I vaguely seem to remember he used to be thought of as one of the smartest men on TV. I have a dim recollection of him in striped blazer and boater as fairly standard apparel.
Fantastic photo, bet he'd like a copy!
Well I hope its all tongue in cheek so wont judge you just yet. But what is it about some boarders who have to be personal about presenters.
Sureley you are meant to be watching the designs and the plants instead of being scathing about people. Live and let live. I wonder what you all look like, maybe Alan cld find something to critisize(sp).
Well I watched it last night and never even noticed! But I was doing a jigsaw as well through the waffly bits - I got a lot of jigsaw done!!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who has noticed - it's enough to frighten the cat!!
Lighten up Imcoho - Alan is the first one to poke gentle fun at other people's appearance
And what about poor Joe...no medal at all?
Today Alan told us about the queen, how she told him his onions where to small. Perhaps his new coiffure is a compensation
he could be in the next "pirates of the carribean" only needs an earing and a wooden leg ,could get the wood from kew plenty of trees there
Nooj - does fuzzy vision explain your pash for Monty then?
Have to say I don't care what presenters wear or what they do with their hair, clothes etc as long as they can communicate well and actually know what they're talking about. I could listen to AT on plants and gardening all day long and a few others too like CB, Cleve West, James Alexander Sinclair, Helen Yemm.........
yes alan is the best around at gardening and presenting
Obs
How many times do I have to explain!!!!!
It's not a pash - its more a deep meaningful meeting of souls and spirits etc.
And those hands....
Anyway - get a grip- there are worse things than extreme short sight!
It helps a lot - I think Dear H is lovely as well
xx
Alan is still the best at presenting gardening programmes and is equally excellent as a gardening journalist. For looks, voice and charisma though, there is only one Chris Beardshaw - can't wait to watch him in the grand marquee on the interactive loop.....over and over again
Kernow
he's too short for a properlurve fest - oh sorry I suppose it depends how tall you are.?
I've never really looked at his hands - are they lurve-worthy??
Yes indeedy - manly hands!!
Please don't tell me he's short,I don't like short men ( I'm 5'6" )nothing under 6' will do for me
I was totally distracted by Mr T's sideburns and couldn't concentrate on what he was saying about the gardens!!
The other revelation was Joe swift in a suit!
I am really glad you said this I noticed it and found it hard to watch without thinking he had met up with Mr Spock I found it hard to concentrate on what he was saying
OK as someone suggested I shld lighten up, I will join in. I think the hairdo goes with the long striped jacket,so maybe Alan is having a new image. After all he is a celebrity in other fields, not only gardening.
I noticed this and we all had a good laugh. However, why do we need to have these shots of Titchmarsh and Swift punditising on the balcony? I watch the Chelsea programme to see gardens and plants, not to see this pair talking about them, no matter how elegant the sideboards.

yeah, I wondered about the sideburns meself...
OK - I'm going to get pedantic now. Sideburns are facial hair features grown on the side of the face and in front of the ears as in "mutton chops" or Teddy boy fashions of the 50s and 60s. Think Victorians and Fonz.
AT does not have sideburns. He simply has a line where the haircut stops and the shaving starts at the top of his ears. I like his hair cut.

Well I think you are entirely wrong Obelixx.
What Alan has is a facial hair feature on each side of his face (one a bit longer than the other) that run down the top of his cheekbones (which are placed in front of his ears)and curl up at the end. Which is exactly how you defined sideburn!
Does the haircut go with the new job of "High Sheriff of the Isle of Wright?"
He could be starting a new trend in "how to dress for gardening...."
ha ha ha good one william

I thought the sideburns had shrunk back slightly in last nights coverage. Did anyone else notice?
Obviously I didn't get my observation badge in the Brownies! I didn't spot the sideburns, I was too distracted by the centre parting!
I thought the sideburns had shrunk back slightly in last nights coverage. Did anyone else notice?Â
Yes
Yes Cynth I thought so too, then I also thought it was a bit worrying that I was pondering this. I expect he has had to pot up some of his facial seedlings what with the hot weather growing them on so fast.
Ahh. Thats much better.
Goodness me I thought it was just me that kept staring at Mr T's sideburns. Still, it's great to see him in a gardening related prog again.
I too thought they had shrunk slightly. Unfortunately OH had wiped the previous days coverage so I couldn't compare.
Janet.
Is it a syrup?
Are we all so perfect that we relish criticising other people's need to coiffer and present themselves on national TV? I wouldn't go on TV wirhout a full 10000% makeover! (and maybe some plastic surgery!) So don't criticise Mr T or anyone else - we are all human!
