Absolutely love the coverage of chelsea this year .. the walkabouts by Chris & Carol are a wonderful addition to the coverage & enable us to see more detail of stands. One small critisism tho .. it seems ALL the gardening favourites have been shown throughout the coverage of this year`s Chelsea, with the exception of FUCHSIAS! Would be wonderful if us fuchsia fanatics could have a `fix` of a feast of these beautiful flowers .. please!
Your right considering the importance they had in Veitch's Chelsea nursery in the C19th, however these days they are perhaps too floriferous compared to the latest in hardy plants with spectacular foliage so will have to wait their turn for revival. F. magellanica Versicolor is a classic garden plant and some of these American hybrids can produce fantastic hanging baskets that do well in semi shade.
Dont really see whats been different about it this year. CC has been doing her tours of tent fr a few years now or did you only notice that when Mr blue eyes started to do the same lol.
Went yesterday, there are two outstanding fuchsia
stands. Treat yourself to a visit next year.
Greetings Tulip
Hi Gardengnome .. maybe i should have explained myself better .. it was the extra coverage on digital by pressing the red button i was referring to in particular. There was a lot more detail about the various stands as well as more in depth interviews with the people running the stands.
One critisism i do have of the terrestrial coverage though .. the very repetative coverage of the gardens. How many times do we want to see the same gardens being featured over & over & over ........ ? I feel the beeb could make their coverage sooooooo much more interesting - but maybe they are being `tied` by the sponsors??
It was my first visit this year the tv coverage was great.
I thought the coverage of the tent was fab & the stands there were amazing such a contrast to too much green
Hi foxglove One of these days I hope to get to Chelsea & see it in all its glory first hand. Am always too busy this time of year as a rule, plus the journey would take it out of me a bit (i won`t go into detail tho). In the meantime, i`ll relish it on tv.
