In the programme on 29th August Sarah Raven visited a garden where there was a large patch of a parasitic plant which grows on willow roots. It is very low-growing with purple hood-type flowers. I missed the name – can anyone help please?
Lathraea clandestina - Purple Toothwort
An interesting plant. I have seen it growing at
Marwood Hill Gardens, Devon.
They have masses of it at Glendurgan, in Cornwall, too. It's very bright and really striking when you come upon it suddenly.
