Who should take over GW? According to Amateur Gardening at the beginning of August, a poll of their readers put Chris Beardshaw as their favourite choice. The poll was conducted before Toby Buckland was appointed.
Interestingly, TB came somewhere like 7th. Did anyone see the poll?
Yes and it was much discussed on various media and other gardening blogs. No-one ever mentioned TB as a possibility in those.
It remains to be seen as to whether his appointment is an inspired move or yet another poor quality policy decision by this dodgy production team.
We must give him a fair chance to prove himself either way.
Hi Obelixx!
I entirely agree with you. I welcome TB and look forward to him making a big impression. When he was announced, I didn't know how to respond. What I have seen of him has been good. The trouble is, I haven't seen enough.
I only hope the lead role on GW doesn't become the new Doctor Who where every few series he (it has only been 'he' to date) metamorphoses into someone new.
Good to hear from you again. You are always a most welcome poster.

I think using the most recently superseded Dr Who as the GW presenter is an excellent idea - possibly the even the best idea anyone has come up with since Monty retired from the programme.
Chris Eccleston would be great, maybe with Rose as a co-presenters/potting shed assistant. It would certainly get me watching GW again.
I guess with the whole time travel deal even the current Dr could fit filming GW into his busy time lord schedule.
Mr Eccleston I could cope with but not that Tennant person. Too many mannerisms.
I liked the plants TB used in that woodland glade on GW but hated the general finish with tatty paths and that awful bench so I'm not exactly waiting with bated breath for him to arrive as lead presenter and infuse new life into GW.
However, as I said, I think we need to give him a chance to prove himself and meet the expectations and needs of both novices and seasoned gardeners and viewers.

Oh no not David Tennant he is too thin.
Does anyone know how much carbon emissions you get from the tardis?
I don't have that sort of info. Venus Mantrap, but someone here will be bound to come up with a website address and then you can check it out. Or google it? These things we need to know.
From this wonderfully written article about damsonomics, I'd have proposed Boris Johnson, but then I'd propose him for most things...
Excellent - and my proper northern damson tree here in central Belgium hasn't had a single fruit on this year either and it's got some sort of leaf curl. Last year it was a picture of health and fruitfulness.

TallyHo, reality can sometimes be stranger than fiction.
Boris Johnson on GW .... why not indeed?
You do come up with some wonderful comments (apart from the one about 'sacking Carol' but we won't go into that)
Re: sacking Carol — only being honest
Telly presentational skills aside, compared to Boris' and Monty's beautifully written prose, her Guardian column reads like a telephone directory.
