Tomorrow 7:35pm - 8:00pm Channel 4
"Showcase of bold and original documentaries from up-and-coming filmmakers. Jos Cushing's film follows three wonderfully British eccentrics and their long-suffering partners in obsessive pursuit of their holy grail: to grow the biggest."
Maybe worth a peek whilst waiting for GW.
I thought that might be worth a look.
Hi Boofer! Off topic I know....what the hell!
I was pleased to hear you enjoyed your visit to Shrewsbury Flower Show. I've visited (judged at many) dozens of shows and Shrewsbury is still my favourite for a family day out.
Enjoy the TV programme.
Thanks for the tip, DK.
btw This Board is titled Gardening on TV, so not for just the provider's channels imho, thus you are therefore not OT.
You're welcome, Yakram. 'OT' - not sure it stretches as far as talking about visiting shows though.
I found the programme most interesting - for the chaps and their wives its obviously a 24/7 way of life which they mostly seem to enjoy. Such dedication puts me out of their league. I did once win best in show for a pumpkin, though. Probably a fluke.
I found it interesting too. I always wonder what happens to the oversized veg after they exhibit it? At the end of the programme, we saw a cabbage being munched by rabbits (?). Great shame if the veg is not being used for eating.
Haven't seen the prog yet, but MD, don't you think that even if the 'rabbits' eating it, it is 'eating'/using/

Hello Malan D - I thought they were goats! Those giant cabbages were probably far too tough to be palatable to anyone else. Cheers! Ma.
I thought they were goats ... maybe there were oversized giant rabbits.
Yes, sorry, now I remember, they were goats. My senior moment lasted longer than normal
