Why is it that Toby has a blog, Alys has a blog, Joe has a blog... but there is no "Carol's blog"? Surely she hasn't been sidelined? Or have I just missed it?
I don't see what this thing is that everyone has to have a blog? This isn't specifically aimed at you, SE22whatsit, just a general comment.
Some people are good with the written word and others aren't, or don't have the time. I'm happy Carol is a good TV presenter and I don't see that it follows that she needs to be blogging too?
I'm sick of seeing endless drivel about the minutae of people's lives, just because they are on the telly. Blogging should be left to the proletariat, I say. The thing I liked about the whole concept of it was that it was a great leveller - anyone can blog.
The idea that cyberspace is now dripping with the ramblings of TV presenters and people with commercial interests posing as bloggers is just a time waster. I say, spend your spare time in your garden Caz, don't spend it labouring over a hot keyboard.
Yes, I agree too many tv and film people wanting us to know about them. Do we care enough about them that we want to know everything? And then they blame the media for hounding them.
She is too busy running the nursery and growing plants.
Joe gets someone else to do his blog for him, a bit like his allotment. Its call blog delegation
I love Carol as a presenter, but judging by her journalistic style in the Weekend Guardian, her writing skills are not her best asset! Enthusiasm is very hard to put across in written words.

I love Carol's writing. I have for maybe ten years. I've always learnt a couple of new things in every article. If she wasn't that good other "celebrity garden writers" wouldn't have been copying her for years - I've always read it from her first.
I've just seen her new "Cook your own veg" which I was a bit wary of but it's delightful. That's sorted at least 4 Christmas presents for me and it's only October!

Rowancottage - how do you know Joe gets someone else to write his blog?
Oh he knows you know.

Mad_Doris
It was a bit sarcastic
Conclusion is if someone else is doing his allotment then he probably has someone doing is blog.

Oh - I see...bit slow on the ol' uptake me! Made me smile though...
The proletariat? The proletariat? This did make me chuckle as some of the best writers around are bloggers. And since when was blogging, or writing ability, a class thing anyway? Many of them knock spots off the professional columnists in the papers these days. You should give it a go. I would happily read blogs by many of the forum regulars on here
Though I do agree that blogging has been somewhat hijacked by the mainstream media. It doesn't work. Sorry Aspidistra I didn't get the gist of your comment first time round. TV presenters, TV programmes and newspapers should stick to the medium they know best and bloggers should remain creative, inventive. Go Against The Flow, that's what I say.

How do you get to start a blog - anyone know any sites where one could write a gardening blog for instance?

Jayelle
Try Google it answers most questions on bloggs and blogg hostings.
Bloggs are just like Faceache book they have had their day. There are too many to make any of them interesting reading. Its a bit like Mogadon for the masses.
Jayelle - there are lots of wonderful gardening blogs. Try Emma (she is a journo from the Independent) but has her own separate blog; google Baklava Shed Coalition for the details, another good one is the Gardening Monkey (google again) or the slightly deranged Sea of Immeasurable Gravy. Once you have looked at these, you will find that they all have links to other interesting gardening sites and so you can keep looking. Have fun!
