I briefly saw Alice's recipe for pernicious weed soup making a lovely fermented soup for the garden - has anyone got the step by step details?
Put all you horrid weeds into a bucket. Fill it with water. Cover it with something to exclude light (and possibly the flies). When it starts to stink and look generally unappealing it's ready. Sometimes I stir it so the stuff on top goes to the bottom, just to make sure everything is rotted. You can use the juice as a very low grade fertiliser or just slosh the whole thing on to the compost safe that nothings going to come back to haunt you. The whole process takes a couple of months.
thank you alys - and I'll spell your name right next time. We shall be shopping for 6 large black plastic dustbins very soon - large garden, large numbers of pernicious weeds- SW France. Wanda
Pleased to see the answer to that question, during the programme it was not stated it needed covering or for how long.
