I ve been watching Gardeners World since the days of Geoff Hamilton, and I have to say that I think Toby Buckland fully deserves the mantle passed down to him from Monty and Alan, Since Toby took over as the main presenter this year the whole show has improved no end and I again enjoy watching Gardeners World
Glad to hear you are enjoying the show. I only wish I felt the same. Still we all take different things from the programme. I haven't actually switched it on the last few programmes because I find it so d.u.l.l. now. I will give it another go though, I really do want to enjoy the programe like I used to.
Personally i think the programme works best with several people, Carol Klien and Joe Swift are very informative and so enthusiastic they are a pleasure to watch.Toby just doesn't do it for me!
I totally agree with the last contributor. To me Toby Buckland is a re-incarnation of Geoff Hamilton and I have enjoyed every programme since he took over.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds Toby so incredibly dull!!! You could get more inspiration from watching paint dry! Over the past few years the presenters on Gardeners World have got better and better, really enthusiastic, stimulating and and motivational. Now, in tried and trusted form the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú have got it wrong again, going for safe and boring, presumably because they think that is how gardeners are! We're not!!! Carol Klein would have been excellent, or there was Chris Beardshaw or even luring Matthew Wilson away from the RHS would have been good. In fact, almost anyone except Toby Buckland who will only inspire people to watch the other side.
why? whats on the other side
Good grief, is this subject ever going to be dropped? Hasn't the whole Gardener's World/Toby Buckland subject been done to death? Let's face it, the Beeb are not going to take any notice of what is said here although to my mind there has been an improvement, and I find the whole character assassination of him and other presents corrosive.
In future I shall stay on the Garden Inspiration/Garden Clinic sections as this is so tedious. Sorry.
Took the words right out of my mouth there, Paul.
Why start up yet another thread on the subject??
I also like Toby Buckland and he is a credit to Gardeners World
I must say I am getting more and more bored with the new Gardeners World. I would like more real advice on what I should be doing with my garden now; there doesn't seem to be much of this any more. Toby knows his stuff but doesn't really have the personality to keep it interesting; the rather false jolly banter with Alys is a bit toe-curling. I'd rather see Carol and Joe doing real fingers in the earth gardening than Toby making an expensive shed project, etc. Maybe the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú could make a new gardening show just with Carol? I'm sure it would be popular.

I was more than happy to give Toby a chance, but on tonight's showing he needs to look for another job.
I have always been a supporter of Carol and she should have got the job.
Ditch Alys and Joe as they are just circus acts, and that's being cruel to circus's.
What has happened to David K's posting? Have you noticed the possibility of reply has been removed?
Rowan Cottage you seem out of sorts this week, I thought tonights programe was a huge improvement on last weeks. Hope your weekend brightens up.
LoveMissMarple I hope you enjoyed tonights programe. I agree that last weeks programe was apalling and I am sure not many people could have learnt very much, but tonight I thought was very informative.

I just expected something a tad better than last week.
I was hoping that the slow start of Toby was just down to him finding his feet. Now I think that what you see is what you get
The Auricula advice was shocking and I would like to see those plants in three months time.
The hot or not is not needed.
The gnomes, don't even go there.
Weekend was fine till 8-9pm
Oh dear, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy tonights programe, had it been similar to last week I too would have felt the same. I thought last week was the worst ever to be screened but this week was very much improved and very reminiscent of Geoff Hamiltons days which is what I feel the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú are tryiing to recreate.
I see Cruella is very active tonight!
Who is Cruella? apart from the character in 101 dalmations.
Why the smile, it was a genuine question.
I wasn't laughing at your question
I must be missing the point here
I hope you don't mean me, I am nothing like Cruella, quite the opposite really, a big softy and love my garden.
I haven't written for quite some time as I now work full time and am totally exhausted by Friday, I am only writing this week as I have taken time off to be with my daughter and son and have some energy left.

The beeb have scored an own goal again. Just like they did with Top Gear! But as soon as the viewing figures fell off a cliff they then listened to what people were saying and hey presto viewers came back in their millions. It's not rocket science appeal to the mass market!!!!

I agree - I thought too that last weeks programme was a waste of time - but I found this week a lot better , and will keep watching . I actually thought to myself that they are reading the message boards and taken notice. However I do emphasise with those who don't like what they see - I have stopped watching Countryfile since they moved it to Sunday Night , got shot of John Craven as main presenter and put Julia 'air miles' bradbury and a Blue Peter cast off as main presenter- that is a true case of 'If it ain't broke , don't fix it'.
Welcome to the new Gardening Board. If this is your first time, then make sure you check out the
