I've just been advised that one of my postings has again been removed - over a week after it was posted. Indeed, I had forgotten what had actually been written, and have not really been a regular contributor as of late. Nevertheless, I would appear to have caused belated offense to someone out there. Of course, just like the 'school sneak', there is never any discussion about who was offended about what, or why the decision was actually taken to remove the offending message. Does it not worry anyone to think that they might be conversing with such a person? It would appear that we live in a country where a person simply can't be completely honest about things that matter to them, but where there continues to be more unsavoury content on TV than anyone can shake a stick at. Hypocrisy rules. Anyway, I'd better stop there before someone finds something in the content to concern them, and the spineless mods move in again. Adieu.
I must admit that I find it strange that we are encouraged to post on here with our views/thoughts etc. but anything that just might offend/upset someone/anyone who raises their hand is pandered to. People who appear on TV are usually paid a lot of money and are well aware that they will face criticism. Most of the posters on here are articulate enough to put their views across in a witty and well-thought-out way. Its also amusing for the rest of us. Stop being so sensitive and let us have our say. Go Ken!
Hello Ken, where what how?
this is no time for censorship - we have another special on tonight, and need full expression facilities.
Is it confirmed or just an oik that has pressed the triangle?

Hi Ken
I quoted from your moderated post
we'll get a presenter with a name more complicated than many plants have 聽
and I remember thinking that was a little unPC (it wasn't me who got you modded btw) and tried to make light of it in order to deflect the thread from a row - which seemed to work surprisingly.
I doesn't really surprise me that someone took offence as the implication was that we would get some "foreigner" in charge - but personally I took it with the usual pinch of salt I give all your posts and it didn't offend me.
That is my best guess but I may be wrong.
This board is certainly not the place for delicate flowers and sensitive egos but I can't remember seeing anything at all offensive in any of Ken's postings. It's true his views are robust and forthright but he expresses them well and, as a licence payer, has the right to comment on 麻豆官网首页入口 programme content and use of license fees.
I quite like the 麻豆官网首页入口 strict parenting - it makes you more subtle with your insults than would otherwise be the case. The 麻豆官网首页入口 is interested in being strict. I looked up programmes you could participate in and there was one for people age 16-19 to go and stay with a foreign family, different culture, with very strict parents. I sent it to my grandson who is going to apply!
Where is Sir Gar? He might have something to say about this thread.
One of the moderators has just had a pop at me for daring to express my irritation at a Carol Klein's mannerisms when presenting on TV. The moderator wrote 鈥淪ome of the criticisms on this board have referred to features about a presenter that are an intrinsic part of their personality or appearance that they can't or wouldn't change鈥
There is a big difference between personal criticism of an individual and abuse, and there is also a big difference between criticising a paid TV personality and criticising a contributor to these boards.
I can't believe that the Beeb has briefed the moderators to protect the sensitive souls that it employs in this way. Or has it, in a fit of panic following the Jonathan Ross furore, and now gets twitchy about anything that might offend anyone? Hopefully it's just a moderator or two that are just exceeding their brief, and not the emergence of Big Brother Beeb.

Ken I suspect given the weeks time delay that it was not any of us that pressed the button, but one of the moderators themselves finally getting around to reading the thread and deciding it was not PC.
There is no logic to how these boards are modded, so often they refuse to mod spiteful jaunts from trolls and instead mod the regulars who are merely expressing their point of view (or trying to start a thread on floral decorations? ).
I guess that is why many of us rarely bother to post on here anymore. Other message boards that were set up for chat only are now starting their own gardening boards because we are all sick of the way we get treated on the 麻豆官网首页入口 鈥揵e it by trolls, self righteous snots with delusions of grandeur and an oversized handbag or just one of the OTT PC mods.
As a Licence Fee Payer I was utterly disgusted by Ken's original post.
How anyone could compare Sarah Raven's face on the Sissinghurst programme to a bag of slapped Arbroath smokies is beyond me!
The fact that Ken didn't just fills me with utter loathing for the very sad individual that hit the complain button.

Ken
As mod on a number of other boards I do find this one a bit funny/fascist. If I have a number of tabs open on other boards I really have to be very careful on here. I am surprised my post for last nights GW has not been pulled.
On odd occasions there are things on here that I have seen that need modding but not to the extent that they are. Just try looking at the Sky news discussion board it really needs a moderator.
Just keep posting as I have never found anything you have said offensive.
I find that when people make derogatory comments about another persons looks, personally and mannerisms, it is not about criticism, it just excuse to secretly and quietly degrade a person
they feel inferior too.
Oh come on, Plainleafed, that's a massive assumption, and one I find rather irrational (hope you don't think my intention is to degrade you, although I wondered if your comment might be a secret attempt to degrade me, and others who criticise TV personalities.)
Are you REALLY saying that if a TV personality has an mannerism that is irritating to some viewers then they can't comment on it without being accused of degrading the presenter???
There is one 麻豆官网首页入口 weatherman that presents as if he is Eddie Murphy, pointing at the viewer and moving around like he's on the dance floor. I find that I can't concentrate on the weather because I find him distracting. Can I not be critical about it without feeling that I'm not really criticising at all but degrading the poor chap? For heaven's sake!
Sensitive? I don't think so.
Repressive? Draconian? Almost certainly.
I read these boards. I post rarely.
I note that several names, whose provenance is beyond criticism in terms of depth of knowledge etc. are notable by their absence.
"Potting shed" = 12 posts in one week.
Says it all.
PHJ
Goldilocks
You mean Des the weatherman on Central?, a breath of fresh air and a really nice chap.
But I could see how some people would not like his delivery. Funny thing is I like all the Central weather presenters.
Some people just don't jell with me and this is why we are all different, it would be a bit boring if we all liked the same things.
Goldilocks maybe if posters concentrated on the message instead of the people, they would be modded less. The reasons that posters have been modded is due to derogatory comments about other posters, the mods, presenters, producers, camera people and impolite language.
Comments are usually inappropriate if you would not say them in front of a small child , at work, in front of your wife/girl friend or mother.
poshHebeJeebie sorry but no ones depth of knowledge is worth allowing certain types of words or comments.

Goldilocks,
Don't waste your time trying to reason with Plainleafed as he's really just the resident troll Grid
Thanks for the tip, Orange Blossom!

Can't breathe in this country anymore - it might offend someone. I like to call a spade a spade though the thought police would probably prefer soil manipulation and hole enabling tool. Freedom of speech is a myth.

This posting has been hidden during moderation because it broke the in some way.
Just wanted to add support for Ken, whose posts I have always found to be thoughtful, honest and worth reading.
Exactement!
Chin up Ken
And you have my full support too, Ken. I can't believe what's been happening on these boards recently. No big deal as far as a mere gardening Board is concerned, but this the 麻豆官网首页入口, for Gawd's sake, and if they can do it here......

What was wrong with Ken's post? I thought it was very reasoned.
His posts stir the little grey cells into life, which can only be a good thing.
Many thanks to those who posted supportive comments. I have always enjoyed reading the posts from you all, and will probably continue to do so. What I will certainly be doing less of, is actually posting my own comments - though I doubt I will be able to resist if I feel strongly enough about something. I've noticed that yet another posting of mine (at the start of this thread) has been belatedly removed, and of course yet again there has been no explanation forthcoming (is there anyone who approves of such cowardice?). What a difference it would make if there was just someone with a bit of integrity at the helm, or someone with the courage to tell a person exactly what has caused offence. I would also point out that I have no problem with people with diametrically opposing views to my own - therefore there is no 'huffiness' attached to my current malaise. What I do dislike (with a passion) is the sneakiness of people who clearly have an issue with contents of postings, but lack the courage to come forward and discuss the offending passage. Finally, like a few other board friends, the quality of the advertising for the forthcoming series of GW has given me seriously bad vibes about the direction in which the new series is likely to be heading - and commenting on here is a darned sight quicker way of getting something out of the system than writing a letter to the Director General - so I'm sure we'll catch up later. Ken.
Now what?

The resident troll 'growyouronw' is online and no doubt responsible for attempting to stir up trouble.
Just ignore. Oh and if this gets modded perhaps the moderator will do something about the problem when he/she reads it.
This thread has been Gridlocked!

There was absolutely nothing wrong with Ken's post at message 26.
This sort of thing is just bringing the Board into disrepute.
Moderators, you need to sort this out pronto.

All these hidden posts are a sinister development. We may not be able to post our thoughts but we can still think them - ha!
Is it Grid pressing the triangle then?
What on earth is he up to now.
Hosts?????????????????

Hi - as you may be aware, we can't discuss reasons for moderation of posts here on the boards. There does seem to have been a lot of activity on the last 24 hours in terms of disappearing messages, which I will look into, but as a host, I don't have final say on the moderator's decision. However, it seems this thread might be best closed. Phyll
