Has anyone got theirs yet?
No. I don't know anyone else who has either.
They'd better hurry. It's getting a bit late in the year to be sowing tomatoes for a reliable crop in the north.
Just received my free seeds - hurrah!
Yes vodkarose, I agree. It is getting a bit late to get the tomatoes going. I'm really happy to get free seeds but I do think the campaign should have been started a good 6 weeks earlier than it was.
Still, I'm looking forward to sowing and growing butternut squash for the first time.
Tatsoi.
Also got mine this morning - will the tomato seeds keep until next year?
Hi susimow,
Yes, they should keep for next year. Tomato seeds keep for about 3 years. Make sure you keep them packet in a cool, dark place and away from damp.
If you live in the South, I would give the seeds a go this year, you have nothing to lose and with the weather warming up they may catch up in their growth rate really quickly.
Good luck. Tatsoi.
No, I haven't got my seeds yet. *sniff* *downs yet another large glass of Merlot* at the reminder that her seeds have not arrived yet.
On the other hand, my tomatoes, of various varieties, that I planted as seed in March - I've already got lots of flower buds on. The carrots appear to be doing well in containers, the lettuces are sprouting and I went out and bought a couple of butternut squash seedlings which are now zooming away in my 'greenhouse' My beetroot are coming along nicely in their final planting position in the garden. So I'm reasonably happy with my efforts so far, as I'm a beginner at this - but it would have been good to have had my Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú seeds.
To console myself I have been sipping my Merlot at an increasing rate and chatting to Julius, my first ever courgette (golden zucchini) who is growing nicely now and to his siblings that are appearing on his parent plant and on the neighbouring plant.
You have courgettes already?
are you darn sarf then?
I'm oop north
I'm in East Anglia.
Started them off in compost-filled homemade paper pots in March. On a windowsill until they germinated (which they did quickly) and potted on into bigger pots when needed. My golden zucchini are now verging on pot-bound as I'm reluctant to plant them out into the garden until risk of frost has passed. So they are in my 'greenhouse' (lean-to at side of house used as laundry..) and are developing zucchini already - still tiny zucchini but growing steadily. And if the number of potential tomato trusses on my tom plants develop, I'm in for a lot of tomato recipes this year!
Unfortunately, like my 10 neighbours from the Neath Valley, who all applied on the same day, I have received nowt, zilch, diddly, not a bean.
Perhaps its another Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú telephone come internet scam, sorry that was below the belt, but for Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Wales deserved.
No way ..... 28 days was what they said and they are certainly sticking to it !
I have recieved my seeds last week and have planted nearly all of them.
Planted my tomatoes today

Still haven't got mine... and the postman has already been this morning. Nor any email to say I won't be getting them after all..
I grow less than impressed by the day.
Same as you, wafflycat. Postman been and gone. Left a couple of bills and my swine flu instructions. Still no sign of my free seeds. I'm wondering if it is a bit of a con?

I just got an email apologising for the delay, and suggesting that I save my tomato seeds until next year.

I'm obviously bottom of the heap as far as both email and seed allocation go, as I have had nothing, nada, zilch...
No seeds for me yet but I still continue to throw myself in front of ice cream vans in hope of meeting Toby, must go now as I can hear a Greensleeves jingle and the smell of diesel coming down the road......:.)
Thanks Tatsoi. I would plant them this year if I hadn't already got far too many tomato plants. Will keep them for 2010. Cheers
Had an e-mail too
"Hi there
It’s the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Dig In team here, we’re emailing to let you know that there’s a delay in sending out your free seeds. We’ve been inundated with thousands of requests and have had to order more to meet demand.
Your seeds should be with you by the end of May. This does mean that you’ll be a little late getting started so you’ll have to be careful with your tomatoes. You might want to grow them in a greenhouse or in pots that can be brought back indoors if the weather gets cold or perhaps save them until next year.
We’re very sorry that you’ll have to wait a bit longer and we hope that you will go on to enjoy growing and eating your veg.
Don’t forget to keep watching Gardener’s World or log on to bbc.co.uk/digin to keep up to date with the latest Dig In news.
Best wishes,
Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Dig In team."
Can't see why, when the Dig In Van wasn't advertised properly for its visit to Swansea, so there must be hundreds, possibly thousands of packets left over.
I have not had my seeds yet. I keep getting the newsletter with top tips but that is of little use.
Yay! Seeds have arrived!

Postman has been, email checked. No seeds, no email... I am NOT a happy bunny.
Cut your losses and go and buy some seeds.
Then, according to sod's law, the free ones will arrive.
It's the same principle as lighting a cigarette while waiting for a late bus

My mam has got hers, I'm still wating. Ordered at the same time.

Tried that nooj - doesn't work!
And more than anything it's the principle of the thing. My order was put in and accepted before the cut-off, so the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú should fulfil it's side of the bargain. It seems it has plenty to give out at the DigIn van, but can't fulfil the orders from those who were actively interested right from the start!

This posting has been hidden during moderation because it broke the in some way.
Cor blimey did a riot break out while I was away?
It wasn't me Gov, honest
Sorry to say, I'm in the same boat. Nothing. Just a note on the site to say they are out of seeds. Probably means me too!! But my Red Emporor beans are thriving. I am about to try the square foot gardening idea, well, just need to paint the 6" high frame with preservative, mix the perfect soil recipe, warm it up with plastic covering and then get those beans into the big wide world. We might get our seeds yet - someone has to be last!!
Yee Ha!!!!
My seeds arrived yesterday. Will now decide which to plant and which to save for next year.

Another day...
Another visit from the postman..
Another day with no email..
Another day with no seeds...
Another day the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú is taking the...
*insert word unsuitable for message board which is the name for a liquid that is an excellent addition to the compost heap*
My seeds just arrived.

Now that's just rubbing it in..

Mr Postman brought mine today
yipee doh da day my seeds just arrived as well
Mine have not arrived yet ... will they keep till next year ?

Postman has just been!

*reaches for yet another bottle of Merlot*
*crumples into a pathetic, broken heap in corner of greenhouse*
Waffly mine haven't arrived either

Passes large bottle of Merlot to Stormy_Pink with knowing glance of misery understood..
I'm lucky, I collected my seeds at Malvern where they were handing them out.
Not had time to plant them yet though - maybe tonight.
Cheers waffly
If they haven't arrived by tomorrow I'll open the scotch

*sound of postman's footsteps walking to front door*
*sound of mail landing on hall floor*
*picks mail up & sees what is not there*
*feeble sobs begin anew, with shoulders heaving failing to conceal the sense of loss..*
*wanders into the kitchen & picks up bottle of Merlot from a worktop now cluttered with dirty dishes and detrius of food uncleared..*
*falls to floor wailing at once again, being ignored by Auntie..*
*cries of "Why? Why? I pay my licence fee willingly! Why? Why?"*
The time for whining has passed.
Opens bottle of Scotch and passes one to Waffly

Now I feel like a really good moan...
How hard can it be to send a few packets of seeds out? They aren't going to be here in time for sowing this year, if that is they arrive at all...
I'm so dissapointed with Gardener's World, I'm not even watching it anymore.

Yup.. I am now past the point of attempting to find any vague humour in the unmitigated disaster that is the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú free seeds offer. Once again the postman has been and once again, no seeds. Complete and utter useless waste of space the seed offer has been to me. Still no seeds, still no email. Still seeds being handed out willy-nilly at the DigIn van appearances (judging from GW at the Malvern Show slot). There appears to be no method, logic or order to those who have received seeds. I know of folk who applied after me who have got their seeds. Just how has the sending out of seeds been prioritised? I would have thought that those who applied online and had their orders accepted *should* have been given prioritiy as they have, at least, expressed clear interest. But no, it would seem there are plenty to be handed out from the DigIn van, whilst too many of us who actually expressed genuine interest by doing the thing online before the cut-off date have fallen to the bottom of the muck heap.
So come on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú.. come on Dig In Ann... this really isn't anywhere near satisfactory.
Is it just us EastAnglia-ites who have been forgotten, perhaps?
Stormy-pink is just round the corner and up a bit!
Or, I did wonder, would my seeds have arrived faster if I had said that I was a novice gardener?
