Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú2 Wales decided to show Gardeners World on Saturday 25 April 2009 8pm instead of its Friday spot for the rest of civilisation in GB, this was done so it could show 30 people running around a green area chasing a funny shaped ball. It was bad enough having to watch the programme a day late, but then to have Toby telling people the Dig In Van tour would be in Swansea tomorrow, when tomorrow had already been and gone was a complete cock-up.
What really gets up many gardeners noses here in Wales, is programmes like GW are cancelled or moved to accommodate sport, and yet the same rugby match is repeated time and time again on following days and Wales Today News reports on the same story three days running.
Came on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú lets have a bit of fairtrade here, you can show rugby on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú3, Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú4 or S4C, don't keep messing about with GW.
By the way, when is Alys going to join the cast of Grease?

Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú2 Wales always has rugby on Friday and GW is shown on Saturday. It was not just a one-off event.

Precisely my point - every friday. Perhaps this is something which needs change with Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú3, Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú4 and the Red Button, this is where other sports are shown when they conflict with other programmes. It would be nice to watch a programme at the same time as the rest of the UK.

I can't see any use for Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú3... I think they ought to make it a sports channel and move sports-related quiz shows like a Question of Sport onto it, or split it into sport/comedy 50:50.
All we want is one hour of sensible gardening a week. Not much to ask, but either don't get that at all due to sport or it's this Blue Peter rubbish.

Hiya - have just come a bit late to this thread but wanted to suggest that when a particular region isn't showing something that you want to watch (happens all the time in Scotland LOL!)in the past, I found another Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Channel via Sky and watched my desired programme via that.
Now, I'm wondering whether you can still do that.....well, it might be worth a try next time some sporting fixture in your area interferes with your regular telly-viewing

God point and I'll pass it on to my neighbours with satelite, but for us non-digital TV people we will have to get a dish and Freesat and tune into English channels, then I won't have to watch Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Wales again - yipee.

I agree with the welsh problem. I'm sorry to sound like an winger but watching on a friday set me up for the weekend. By saturday half the weekend is over, and the time on Saturday is not fixed if it is on at the same time as robin hood or heaven forbid Doctor who, I don't have a chance. What about after the digital change over, can Rugby or may I suggest GW move to another channel.

I don't mind having a whinge when it's needed, and here in Wales you get two options on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Wales, Rugby or Rugby. The trouble with Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Wales is they are so pro sport; any sport, they don't consider the masses of gardeners in Wales worthy of a prime time slot along with the rest of the UK. Next it will be the Coal House; and I think someone has mis-spelt this as well.
Not everybody has satelite because of terrain constraints so on terrestrial you are trapped in the compost. Not only do the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú show rugby when prime shows are on other regions they repeat the same rugby match time and time again.
I would have thought the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú could at least put Scrum V on the Red Button and leave us serious gardeners with at least one program to watch on time and with the rest of civilisation.
Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Wales - Baaa Humbug.

At least everyone will miss GW this week because of sport, so were all Snookered.

As a lady gardener here in sunny wales; , I would just like to add my two penth. The girls in my community think its a disgrace to show so much sport on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Wales, whilst we have only one pasttime our gardens which never warrants any consideration from the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Wales Controller. So Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Wales stop being so biased and give the gardeners and us girls of Wales equal opportunites.

Not only does Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú2 Wales discriminate against gardeners, it directly discriminates against women in general. Can we please have at least one programme to watch instead of rugby, i.e. GW on a Friday at 8pm.

I also made a complaint to the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú about Wales coverage of Gardeners World. All I got in terms of a reply was a basic; 'Oh well never mind', probably from snooty nosed graduate straight out of of nappies with a 'D' in English Language.
The Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú were once seen as the highest standard of British television; how the mighty have fallen.

Just been told Scrum V coverage on Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú2 Wales end this month - yipee - so does this mean we will get Gardeners World on a Friday ??
I'm not holding my breath.
Link to this forum: Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú2 Wales discriminates against Gardeners
GW not on again this Friday, but the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú are proud to discriminate against women and gardeners by showing 6 rugby matchs over three day, and still have time to repeat these matches during prime-time.

My five neighbours and I today had a nice man come round and fit Freesat to each of our houses. He even tuned all our separate boxes with a Postcode to get Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú South West. So from today we don't have to watch Rugby or Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú2 Wales, we can all sit back and watch GW with the rest of the civilized world.
So bye bye Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Wales, its not been a pleasure and coming from a Welshman, it proves your service has been discriminating to even me.

How was the rugby, Sod??
Link to this forum: Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú2 Wales discriminates against Gardeners
Thanks Dai.
The rugby was not watched by ere on Friday, nor Saturday, nor Sunday, nor the repeats.
I was reading my 1976 volumes of the original series of Grow Your Own - now there lovely.

As an add-on to this thread. Of the 40 or so people in my gradening association, who applied for free seeds, not one in this area of Wales has received their free seeds. Is that because the programme went out later in Wales than any where else. Me thinks so.

dai_the_dig..
I'm not in Wales - applied for seeds - still haven't got them. So it's not a conspiracy against the Welsh It's just a major Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú stuff-up.
Link to this forum: Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú2 Wales discriminates against Gardeners
Waffly,
I would rather stick with my conspiracy theory against the Welsh, being as we get the programme after the English, so they must have had all the seeds before we got a chance.

I'm getting folk who I told about the seed offer, who applied for seed *after* me, tell me that they have now got their seed.. Have I got my seed yet? No. Non, Nein... It appears that there is no rhyme, reason or logic to the order in which seeds are posted out.
Link to this forum: Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú2 Wales discriminates against Gardeners
Arrrrh, but at least you know someone who has got their seeds. Here in Wales I know of no one, its a bit like the Readers Digest, your told of thousands of people who have won, but no one has ever heard of them.
I wonder how long it will be before hundreds of Dig In Seed packets start appearing on Ebay.

Psst.. Nooj I wouldn't mention being welsh if I was you or you may be made into a number. I was born in Wales and I was just turned into a number.
It is a bit like the Prisoner series that was filmed in Portmeiron which has lovely gardens and is well worth a visit Did the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú show any coverage of the recent RHS show in Cardiff?

I think we welshies should fight.
Does no-one remember what welsh women did when the Frenchies were invading?
Something to do with using their shawls to look like red-coats so the Frenchies turned back?
I was always told my ancestor was part of it, but I would be wouldn't I?
Come on you proud and brave warrior people!
Bread of Heaven, bread of Heaven...... etc.
I will not be a number without a fight.
Off to cook cawl, but i will be back.....

Carmen, you little devil, now we all know what happens when people get too jolly on the MB. The Junior Ranks start believing their Generals and the whole balley thing kicks off again. Lost of Name, Rank, Priviledges, but you can keep your number.
We need more Welsh people beating a drum at the door of Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú2 Wales asking for GW on a Friday Night. Not too much to ask.
Link to this forum: Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú2 Wales discriminates against Gardeners
perhaps we need some of those formidable welsh ladies to form a gang and invade the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú. They are the only Welsh Dragons they need worry about.
Big and brave on the outside, soft and loveable on the in!!

Just to keep you on the straight and narrow and if my memory serves me right all the French were paralytic with commandeered farmers drink and the "ladies" had an easy battle. In saying that if i met Jemimah I think I would surrender as well drunk or not.
I hope there are some dough-boys in your cawl-yum yum.

For a gardening overload? in Wales on Tuesday 19th May you have a visit to Bodnant at 7-30pm (first episode of 5)followed by Chelsea at 8pm-joy!!

Don't forget the second episode of Bodnant "make over " on tonight 7-30pm Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú2 Wales.
More gardens and less agro than the Sissinghurst offering and much easier viewing. If the rest are like Episode 1 can recommend to view.
