I'm finding GW and many other programmes very annoying when they start for example building the sewer pipe pond. They start off the slot by having three minutes of waffle about putting in a liner, then they cut to another slot say with Alys doing some cuttings. Then cut, they go back to Toby and the pond which is filling with water and have another 3 minutes of waffle, about dry-lining, i.e. putting some slate down and building a wall whilst pretending to plant some Alpines in his cracks, before going off the see Joe messing; well more talking and less digging, about in the Allotment - cut back to the pond and its half finished. Cut its Carol and her apprentices constantly talking over each other, riping apart some poor plant, then cut back to the three and the nearly finished pond, cut back to Carol again, cut to what's Hot, What's Not, cut back to the pond, cut, cut, cut, cut and cut.
More cuts than a Vets surgery.

I just wish for once they would finish one slot completely before going onto the next, its so annoying.

Don't forget.. now.. what was I going to say.. oh yes.. don't forget that The Great British Public has the attention span.. what was it again.. oh yes, we don't have the attention span of a gnat. smiley - sadface

    Who am I again?

What is the meaning of life? That'll be dealt with after 97 short interludes on various subjects filled with irrelevant banter.

What were we talking about again? smiley - winkeye

Arrrrah, but thats the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú assuming were all idiots. I watch GW and one is certainly not stupid. However, my husband who doesn't watch GW, or TV unless it's sport - most certainly is aren't you dear, that right you just sit there nodding and smiling because you cant see what I'm typing can you.

    Bless him.

Most annoying thing is Carol getting less and less time every week whilst newer presents hog the limelight

    Your posts got me thinking.

Either: Directors have been trained to create programmes for a commercial environment with 3 minutes of adverts in between sections, e.g. this choppy (and very irritating) switchback format, as they don't know any better.

Or (more likely), the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú sells its programmes on for later use by commercial channels like UK TV Gardens or abroad. So nowadays although the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú is 'advert-free' (because of the license fee) every programme is created from its inception with the possible ease of its future commercial exploitation in mind.

We, as viewers, have therefore ended up with the worst of both worlds — commercially formatted bland programmes which we pay for via the license fee whether we like them or not.

OK so far. And we all know that Channel 4 has advertising and that it too sells its programmes to other TV stations, just like the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú.

So how come Channel 4 programmes are some of the very best programmes on TV today?
