hi i have a ceonthus which has grown to a large shrub. i would like to prune it to reduce its height. can you please tell me how to do. i wouldnt want to cut it worng which can spoil the shape. thanks
Wait until it's finished flowering, then take your shears and cut it back to how ever you want it.
However, remember ceanothus will not produce shoots from old wood so never prune back to old wood.
thanks
Ceanothus Aboreum will rengerate if you cut the thing down to ground level so it depends which species you have.
Remember that they all get this nasty fungus/bacteria doing the rounds which gains entry most easily through wounds and cuts so do paint the prunings.
