Yesterday was our third year at GWL and while I think the whole show was the best yet, getting in was painful, took an hour from the M6. Maybe I'm getting old, but I felt embarrassed at the behaviour of some people around 4.30 when the sell off started. Final moan, the show was billed to finish at six but by five many of the stands in the hall had been broken down. I'm sure they'd had a hard three days but this was just an insult to punters who'd forked out a fair ammount for this.

Mods, what is going on here, with regards my first reply? I wrote a long piece about going to GWL last year and lots more beside and I don't know where the above post has come from. I have complained about it and you come back and say it will stay, as it does not contravene the house rules. Well it does mine, as I DIDN'T WRITE IT, OK??????

Deal with it, before I take this further!

Just hit back in my browser and found what I did write and it shows it in the thread, so what did happen about 50 minutes later, when I looked for replies?

I didn't go this year, but did the two previous and didn't get too bad travelling problems at all, though we went on the Saturday, both years. I come across the A14 and up the M6.

As to the stalls packing up, I go to antique fairs and it happens there too! The one I usually go to, packs up at 4.30pm, yet there are stalls cleared by 1pm. Don't they want to get their items sold, as it surely can't be traffic problems, they worry about?

I've never been on sell off day, so can't comment on that.

Let's hope it goes OK this time!

I live in west mids and caught the train in. no waiting smiley - smiley I also walked in at 9am without anyone checking my ticket, very annoying after forking out £40 for a pair!

I didn't go this year (seen enough them on TV) but usually prefer to travel in by train when I do.
Having said that, it is a very long walk from Birmingham International station to the venue.

We live only 25 minutes from the NEC and saled down the M69 ... then stopped just on the slip road to the NEC.

45 minutes after stopping we finally parked up.

We had aimed to get to the NEC for about 9am but finally got out of the car just before 10am - a whole hour wasted.

That said, we loved the RHS hall and got to see some wonderful plants, gathering ideas and inspiration for next year.

Then we made the mistake of going into the Good Food side where it was cut throat ... After years of exhibiting at the Ideal Home Exhibition I had forgotten that the great british public cannot resist a free bit of food. We were trodden on and pushed and elbowed out the way. By the time we had made it to the end of the hall we hadn't got the energy to push our way back so we walked out and round the hall and back in to the politeness of the gardeners!

Hello all. Just a quick heads up.

It appears that the second post on this thread was attributed to the wrong user due to technical problems related to the messageboard upgrade that was carried out last week.

For those of you who saw the comment before it was moderated, we'd like to point out that it wasn't actually written by Madonplants.

    Regards,
    Sam - CCT.
