A few weeks ago one of the female experts on the GQT panel said that she immerses her phalaenopsis in water for (I think she said) a couple of hours, each week (with the addition of the usual feed when flowering). I have previously only immersed mine for ten minutes, but since she said that I give it an hour, and it certainly hasn't done it any harm at all - it is flowering on one stem which has divided, with about 19 flowers, and also producing masses of new healthy-looking roots.
By the way, having seen them growing in various hothouses, and observed that they seem to like to grow as if they are falling out their pot, I've given mine its head and it is on top of a high bookcase, and the flowering stem is hanging down - it looks wonderful.
Picture Susan please
Sorry Amazing, I can't oblige. My home technology isn't up to it, and I use the internet in the library. I do appreciate everyone else's pictures though - just been looking at link in the greenfly thread with great pictures of all sorts of insects that I don't know, including a fierce-looking ladybird larva.
You may find the above link useful, Susan
