It was not many weeks ago that Toby and gang were telling us we were in for a long and hot summer - where is it? So far it was just 3 weeks in June.
I agree - so much for the Met Offices Barbecue Summer!! ;(
Let's hope GW shows us how they're coping with the changeable weather this year
Humph.
Yesterday, metcheck were forecasting it to be to be 24 degrees on Tuesday in my neck of the woods. I've just looked again and now its forecasting about 14 with torrential rain.
Oh well- look on the bright side - no hosepipe ban. *sigh*
I recall that April in 2007 was lovely and hot and the rest of the year it belted down with rain. In 2008, 3 weeks in May were hot and the rest of the year it belted down with rain. Now in 2009, 3 weeks in June have been hot and etc etc......
Perhaps this is global warming and this is what British summers are going to be like from now on? Here's looking forward to 3 weeks of nice weather in July 2010 then.

that is a long hot summer in this country..........!
One thing that does seem to be predictable - it will rain in the run-up week to Tatton Show when we're all trying to build show gardens!!

I never take much notice of weather forecast I go by what the weather each day. The Met Office get massive funding and they're pitty much useless and long range forecasting of the weather I don't even trust their weekly forecast..
Have any of you noticed when tehy do forecast on tv the get all excited rain forecast, and look sort sad when they forecast sunny weather.
I believe in Russia, if a weather forecaster gets the weather wrong 3 times they get the sack, if they did that here we'd never have any weather forecaster's.
Rain (and were getting plenty of it)
I think we had it in May!!
I'm with Veggie Man, I looke out the window when I get up each morning, at least it's an accurate picture of whats happening with the weather. Weather forecasters couldn't tell their bums from their elbows.

made me laugh out loud..
I had a feeling back in the late spring when it was so nice and almost summer-like that it was too good too soon, just like the last 2 years. I was hoping against hope that my feeling was wrong and everyone else was right about the long hot summer we were going to have.
Looks like my hunch was right after all, sadly.
Heres hoping for a nice autumn (chances of an Indian summmer anyone?)
Woohoo! It was fine enough here to cut the lawn tonight! (*does a little dance*).
Lucky my mower's not electric tho as it started raining again just as I was halfway through
It must be 'The curse of Gardeners' World'... we are doomed. Did you notice we actually won the Test match — why? Gordon Brown didn't wish the team good luck beforehand — that's why. I suspect Toby's another Jonah.
I think this year's been really good, none of that tramping down the garden to water everything every night and a nice mix of sunshine and showers to keep things growing.
