Would a change some weeks of different presenters appeal to the viewers ? What about Helen Yemm or Chris Beardshaw. Carol will take off one of these days if she doesn't stop waving her arms around !
Helen No Thank you....
Chirs yes please ,,,,,,,,,,,, enough said!
No Helen Please, my ears ,my eyes!!!!!!!!
And please no more Carol Klein!!!!!!!! yuck.
What's wrong with Helen? I'd rather have her any day than simpering Alys!

This posting has been hidden during moderation because it broke the in some way.
Cant fault Helen Yemms gardening knowledge and would be a great change from the typical slightly fawning/engaging at any costs presenter style popular today. Helen tells it as it is take or leave it.
Carol no thanks, CB needs to get a personality and some larger T shirts I am all for St Christine who's enthusiasm is at least genuine.

Who needs personality, good eye candy, especially in tight T-shirts! Looks as good as the plants he talks about...nothing wrong with that!
Don't you find it distracting from the gardening content? or is that the master plan

oooooh no, let's face it none of them tell us anything we don't already know........so haveing someone worth looking at saying it, is a bonus!
Allow me to throw one more name into the hat.. Christine. Sorry I forgot her last name but she had a series of her own, Christine's Garden. Her real enthusiasm and cheery face will brighten up few mins that she would be on GW.
Oh well, there's no accounting for taste!
Allow me to throw one more name into the hat.. Christine....Ìý
I think thats Christine Walkden your looking for or St Christine to her followers.
I think her genuine enthusiasm is quite infectious and the sooner she is back on our screens the better.
Yes, that's the one.

Then we /will/ know we've hit rock bottom!
Now I thought you felt very highly of Christine and certainly is much preferable to CK.
I have no quarrel with Christine Walkden's expertise, she is a very knowledgeable and experienced gardener, but I do have a quarrel with the way she has been projected, and directed, in her television appearances so far.
She has been projected, in my view, as a cross between a dippy spinster aunt and Mrs Doubtfire. Her neighbour Reg, who spent most of the series of programmes I am thinking about looking completely out of his depth was made to look like a candidate for the Home for the Bewildered.
I'm sure he was just a nice old chap who was being "used" in the interests of "entertainment"
All typical of the Beebs preference for producing television programmes aimed at that level of society who struggle to read the Sun.

I agree with your comments and perhaps Christine deserves better hence "guest" spot on GW which I think she has appeared in before.
Still have fond memories of Reg's character however and played up to Christine and camera well and brought many a wry smile.
I hope he is still enjoying his retirement.
she is a very knowledgeable and experienced gardenerÌý
Based on what she has done thus far on TV, I wonder how that conclusion was reached.
She has been projected, in my view, as a cross between a dippy spinster aunt and Mrs Doubtfire.Ìý
Was it written into her contract to be so and do 'choo choos' and 'aeroplanes'?
I miss Chris Hamilton. Isn't there another CH out there who isn't a wannabe radio presenter, TV presenter or author of romantic(?) novelettes but just a plain, honest-to-goodness gardener wearing heavy, soil-encrusted gardening boots and has dirty fingernails ?
Not sure if the following will show up as a hyperlink or not, but if it does it enforces my view that Christine Walkden is an experienced and knowledgeable gardener.
Perhaps it also enhances my view that her projection as a "character" has probably done much to downgrade her in the eyes of serious gardeners.
I knew someone would wheel out the CV ....seen it before and still not impressed!
Wheeeee! Choo choo!!
I'd like to see more from the various 'experts' that sometimes appear on the shows. At least we can then believe the things we're being told instead of being left wondering.
How many of us would keep earwigs for aphid control and risk all the plant damage they are notorious for... The little blighters ruined my cauli's this year!! And also who would fleece in the flea beetles..?? Alright, some can fly in to a crop, but there's a lot more hiding away in the soil!
I'm impressed with the CV, she's certainly achieved more in professional gardening terms than ever I would have. I remain less than impressed by her television "image" but much of the fault for this must lie at the door of the production company that making her programmes.
