I don't know if anyone has watched Alan Titchmarsh doing his chat show in the afternoons on ITV1 - I caught one from the first series, I watched it only because I'm a fan of his, but I won't watch it again.
I really do wish he would return to gardening related programmes - he used to get SO excited about bulbs coming up and silly little things like seedlings appearing and I used to share his excitment because I feel the same way. As far as I'm concerned, there isn't really anyone else now who gets so passionate about it and I feel we've lost something somewhere.
Alan please come back to your roots!!!!
We need you!

Alan has done as much gardening as he possibly wanted to and some more. He moved on from those days years ago, thanks to the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú giving him a variety of other jobs. He has even moved onto ITV, perhaps he has become a freelance presentor. I guess he has left his gardening days way behind him, which he is entitled to.

But he's not allowed to leave us to the likes of Toby, Carol and Christine - all YUK! as far as I'm concerned.
TV gardening is dying a horrible death and we need Alan back NOW!!!

Alan actually left us Monty and cannot have foreseen the current state of affairs. He is now enjoying gardening privately, still writes columns on gardening and has many other strings to his bow. Who are we to want to stick him in one pigeon hole?
I do agree he was an excellent presenter and loved the way he communicated the excitement and fun of plants and gardens and gardening but I can't see them wooing him back.
Let's just hope they schedule How to Be a Gardener again over winter, or better still early spring when we can act on the inspiration.
Let us also hope TB's contract is short and we get someone new and competent soon.

If you want to see how the mighty have fallen - watch AT on a friday pm when he does his 'gardening' spot on his chat show. I don't get the point - I assume it is just a slapstick or 'panto' slot. I find it embarrassing to watch (so I don't anymore).

Toby is a vast improvement over the previous presenter. At least Toby knows what he is talking about. Also, he doesn't use the programme as a platform to preach his own narrow, dogmatic views on gardening.I hope his tenure is long and fruitful.

dottiesue, you are right. I watched AT doing his gardening trouble shooting slot on Friday afternoon. I felt the slot was created just to keep his gardening fans happy and to give him something he is known for. I saw no point in his guest reading out the questions and making fun of the whole thing.
